The ribbon is cut & the food trucks are here for you! Come on down to the River Market Pavilion to grab a bite this evening — we’ve got Candyman’s Smokehouse BBQ, In The Dog House Gourmet Hotdogs, The Miracle Whip Mobile cafe’, Livin' Aloha , & Sweet Delightz ready to serve along the patio. Inside the pavilion we’ve got some live music and Cold Cocked Frozen Liqueurs. What more could you ask for!

Book your hayride! 🚜 Weekday and weekend hayrides are now open for reservations — book yours soon, they fill up fast. Hayrides cost $80/ride and last about two and a half hours, starting with a 30-minute ride to your campfire, 90 minutes to relax and hang out, and 30 minutes back to the cars. Wagons can fit 20-40 people — plenty of room for friends & family!

The River Market isn’t even open yet, but it’s already welcoming new residents! 🦋

This Imperial Moth was spotted chilling beneath a newly planted native beautyberry, one of the many native plants added to the site over the past month.

The River Market is set to open next week (more on that here soon!), but is already a habitat for many. We can’t wait to see how this new space grows—and who else comes to visit! 🌿

Community Park has a new inclusive element thanks to Hitachi Energy Jefferson City! This communication board will help visitors stay and play by providing them with words and pictures to express their feelings, needs, and how they want to play in the park. This board contains both English and Spanish components and was developed with the help of Heather Dodd at Making Connections LLC and Linda Cornejo of The Cornejo Group.

We love to see partnerships like these bring a project from an idea to a reality! If you would like to support inclusive elements in parks, give us a call. We want you to join in the fun!

FYI: Binder Park Entrances/Road Closures
⚠️ August 29-30, 2026 ⚠️

We are pumped to welcome Missouri Interscholastic Cycling League back to Binder Park for the 2026 Binder Lake Mini-Bash this weekend! Plan your park visit accordingly; roads and park entrances may be inaccessible or closed. Digital message boards will be placed near roads displaying road closure notices to help redirect traffic.

We love hosting this group and enjoy seeing them hit the trails to open their season! Have you been to this race before? If so, tell us what you love about riding at Binder in the comments 👇

Last week we celebrated the retirement of Ken Brauner, who served the city and JC Parks for 15 years — most recently as the Superintendent of Oak Hills Golf Center. We enjoyed visiting with Ken and gifting him an oak tree to be planted at the course in honor of his work.

When you drive by Oak Hills or play the course, it's hard to see how much work goes into the greens, the clubhouse, the irrigation infrastructure, staffing, so on and so on. Ken has done an incredible job of caring for the course and will surely be missed.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the Catch Me If You Can Fun Run! We loved seeing everyone out there running, walking, laughing, and showing off their tie-dye creations. Your energy made the event so much fun!
