During this Zoom meeting, Tamico will discuss creating an enviable life. We will look at ways to bring work, volunteering, community connections, as well as developing self-determination, social, and communication skills through daily and weekly routines.

August is Spinal Muscular Atrophy Awareness Month!

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a rare genetic condition that affects muscle strength and movement by impacting the nerve cells responsible for controlling muscles.

Did you know the mortality rate for Spinal Muscular Atrophy has dropped 60% in the last 10 years? This is thanks to advocacy, research, and the expansion of newborn screening. There's a lot to be grateful for this August!

Join us for a meeting full of SDS updates and networking!

This is a great opportunity to stay in the know while also connecting with others in our SDS community! Here’s an agenda of what to expect:

- Updates on the SDS program - topics including budgets, Acumen, and upcoming important dates

- Current political advocacy updates

- Virtual meet and greet - Attendees will be split into breakout rooms to have meaningful discussions in smaller groups. This will be facilitated by members of our SDS steering committee.

- Review of future meetings and important happenings around the state

Over the weekend, some of our steering committee members were able to get together to celebrate the end of the 2027 budget process and the great impact we made in Jefferson City.

It was a wonderful evening full of good company and recognition of this year's successes! 🎉
