Claudia and I stopped by the Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson City this week to distribute snacks for students on behalf of Mansion on a Mission.

Appreciate the work of the Club in providing activities for local children all summer long.

Ensuring public safety for the City of St. Louis has always been my top priority, and I am thankful that the Missouri General Assembly supported our efforts to establish a citizen-led Board of Police Commissioners and increased funding to back the men and women of the SLMPD.

Continued legal attacks by politicians are unproductive and discouraging. Governing is hard, and budgets can be difficult. I urge City leaders to focus on investing in the safety of St. Louis as that is the foundation for growth, opportunity, and the future of the entire region.

I look forward to appellate review of this decision.

This has always been about legal clarity.

Budgets can be difficult conversations, but the safety of our community should always be the top priority.

We join the men and women of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in mourning the sudden and tragic loss of Corporal Gary Daniels.

Claudia and I are keeping Gary’s loved ones and those who served alongside him in our prayers.

When Corporal Gary Daniels graduated from the Missouri State Highway Patrol Law Enforcement Academy in 2015, he had established the first bond in a trooper’s career: He would forever be a member of the 101st Recruit Class. Decades later, troopers can name everyone in their recruit class. Recruits make it through the rigorous six-month bootcamp-style academy because they learn they are part of a team. A team in which they can rely on one another when their lives are on the line. Over the next decade, Gary established other immutable bonds within the Patrol – first in Troop C; then Troop A, where he could be closer to his family in Kansas; then part of the Patrol’s recruiting division; and, most recently, at the Patrol’s academy, where he could help shape the careers of young recruits.
Each current Patrol member and the larger Patrol family ache over the tragic loss of Corporal Gary Daniels. Missouri Department of Public Safety Director Mark James, a member of Patrol’s 48th Recruit Class, said, “Our troopers are hurting because Gary Daniels was a valued member of the Patrol family with a stellar career. He recruited and encouraged young men and women that they could succeed in our organization and, then in the academy, he helped shape the future of the Patrol. The Patrol and the entire DPS family mourn this terrible loss. Our thoughts are with Gary’s family and all who loved him.”
We will remember Gary Daniels for his selfless service to the public and for upholding the values of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. He will forever be part of the Patrol team.

Claudia and I visited CNH Reman North America in Springfield and saw firsthand how Missouri companies are delivering real value to American manufacturing. By remanufacturing critical equipment components, CNH Reman is helping farmers, manufacturers, and businesses keep operations running sustainably and efficiently by reducing expenses and extending the life of their essential machinery.

That kind of innovation strengthens our economy, supports Missouri jobs, and keeps our businesses competitive. Thank you to the CNH Reman team for the warm welcome and for your continued investment in Missouri.

Over $1.4 million to volunteer fire departments❗

We’re glad to see this funding put to work for precisely the reason we created the grant – to provide essential firefighting and safety equipment to the smallest volunteer departments, whose members define selfless community service each time they respond to a call.

‼️108 MISSOURI VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS RECEIVE OVER $1.4 MILLION IN STATE GRANTS FOR ESSENTIAL FIREFIGHTING AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT‼️

Our grant colleagues at the Missouri Department of Public Safety have completed the process and 108 small volunteer fire departments have received $1.455 million in state grants to bolster their ability to provide critical protection to their rural communities. The Missouri Volunteer Fire Department Grant provided up to $15,000 for the purchase of equipment to agencies with annual operating budgets of $50,000 or less, where resources for essential firefighting equipment can be strained.

“Missouri’s firefighters stand guard, protecting our communities from fires, natural disasters and other emergencies each and every day,” Governor Mike Kehoe said. “We’re glad to see this funding put to work for precisely the reason we created the grant – to provide essential firefighting and safety equipment to the smallest volunteer departments, whose members define selfless community service each time they respond to a call.”

The most requested items were firefighter turnout gear, extrication equipment, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and interoperable radios and repeaters for communication. There was also strong demand for basic supplies like hoses, nozzles, power tools and saws.

Another round of budget and bill reviews with the team today.

We're making sure the legislation I sign into law is right for Missouri and fits who we are as a state.

More to come.

Placing the measure to phase out Missouri's income tax on the August ballot gives lawmakers additional time to prepare for the next phase of implementation following approval from voters.

We will deliver on our promise to modernize Missouri's tax code in a deliberate, responsible, and sustainable way.

Missouri voters will decide the fate of four constitutional amendments during the upcoming primary election on Aug. 4, including one to eliminate the state’s individual income tax. Gov. M...

This is what happens when federal, state, and local law enforcement partners have the resources to crack down on violent crime.

Appreciate the efforts of FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation Co-Deputy Director Andrew Bailey and Senator Eric Schmitt in working to support the men and women of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (OFFICIAL) with historic investments into FBI - St. Louis.
