This week, I had the chance to visit with several Missouri National Guard service members to thank them for the critical work they do across our state.

From the the Civilian Support Team that assisted with FIFA World Cup efforts in Kansas City to the brave crew that rescued campers from flooding earlier this summer, the men and women of the Guard are always ready to answer the call and support our communities whenever their state needs them. Their professionalism, preparation, and dedication continue to make a real difference, and I am grateful for their service.

At about 12 a.m. this morning, Missouri faced another devastating reminder of the dangers of the work of law enforcement officers.

Along Interstate 35 in Clay County, a Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper had just arrested a motorist on suspicion of DWI and placed her in his patrol car on the inside shoulder of the highway when a passing motorist struck the Trooper and his patrol car. The Trooper sustained very serious injuries.

Danger is inseparable from a law enforcement officer’s job – whether it’s working alongside highway traffic in the dark, responding to a domestic violence call, or confronting an armed felon.

Claudia and I continue to pray for the Trooper and all who wear a badge. They willingly accept the risks that accompany their chosen profession to protect all of us. We will always be grateful.

I was honored to attend the relinquishment of command ceremony for Major General Christopher Beck, commanding general of the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and U.S. Army Fort Leonard Wood.

After 33 years of distinguished U.S. Army service, Maj. Gen. Beck leaves an incredible legacy of leadership and service to our nation. We thank Maj. Gen. Beck for his service and sacrifice and wish him and his family well in retirement.

Protecting Missouri's most vulnerable children is one of our highest responsibilities, and the people doing this work deserve clear, consistent standards across every agency, courtroom, and community. This Executive Order brings the entire child welfare system together around one shared definition of safety and one expectation of accountability.

St. Louis showed up for the BMW Championship!

Attendance at Bellerive Country Club set a record for the tournament, once again proving why St. Louis is one of the best sports cities in America. From the incredible fans to the outstanding volunteers and law enforcement partners, Missourians came together to make this tournament a tremendous success.

Congratulations to Wyndham Clark on an incredible week and a well-earned win.

Stopped by the Beef House to flip some steaks tonight.

Great food and even better people.

Appreciate Missouri Cattlemen's Association and Missouri FFA members from across the state for helping promote Missouri’s beef industry to visitors throughout the Fair.
