A nice surprise after a call! Last week, PJ and Elizabeth caught up with our crews after they responded to a kitchen fire in the neighborhood and brought them some popsicles.

On Sunday morning Cole County and Jefferson City public safety resources responded to reports of a mountain bike accident on the Binder Park trail system.

Due to the remote location of the patient specialized resources from the Jefferson City Fire Department, Cole County Emergency Services, and a helicopter from MU Health were requested to the scene.

The patient was transported to University Hospital by medical helicopter in stable condition.

As a reminder, the public is asked to refrain from operating Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS/Drones) in the vicinity of an emergency incident. Doing so may delay or inhibit emergency operations.

Out with the old and in with the new!!!!!!

JCFD just took delivery of our brand new 2026 Rosenbauer ARFF(Aircraft Rescue Firefighting) Truck. ARFF-1 is equipped with a 500gal water tank, 1500 gpm pump, 100gal foam cell and 500lbs of Purple K dry powder on it. This truck will be replacing our 1991 E-One ARFF Rapid Intervention Truck that is located at the Jefferson City Memorial Airport

Over the next couple weeks personnel will be outfitting the truck with all of the equipment and performing In-Service training on it before it is placed In-Service.

ARFF-1 showed up just in time for us to place it In-Service for the upcoming Airshow September 11-13.

Periods of heavy rain can lead to localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas and locations with poor drainage. While Jefferson City is not currently under a flash flood warning, it's always a good reminder to use extra caution if you encounter water on the road.

If you come across a flooded roadway, remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown. Never drive through standing or moving water, you may not be able to see the depth or the condition of the road beneath the surface.

Drivers should also slow down during heavy rainfall, respect any road closures or barricades, and stay weather aware by monitoring trusted weather sources.

This week, our firefighters were proud to support the MR340, one of the world's longest nonstop river races. As hundreds of kayakers paddled 340 miles down the Missouri River, our department staged an emergency support boat near the Jefferson City checkpoint, ready to assist with any medical emergencies, dehydration, or water rescues if needed.

When Missouri communities need help, our team is ready to answer the call.

Six members of the Jefferson City Fire Department's Type III Water Rescue Team deployed to Reynolds County this weekend at the request of the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to assist with devastating flooding after nearly 12 inches of rain fell in less than 24 hours.

Our team immediately joined emergency operations, assisting with swift water rescues and conducting search operations alongside local and state response agencies.

We are proud of the professionalism, dedication, and teamwork our firefighters demonstrated throughout the mission. All of our personnel returned home safely.

Serving Jefferson City is our priority, but we're also honored to support our neighbors across Missouri when disasters strike.
