This past week was Correctional Employee Appreciation Week. We did a little something each day to thank our staff for their hard work and dedication.

We started with Donuts. Wednesday we served a fried chicken lunch/dinner to staff. Some members from our CERT team were good sports and let staff throw water balloons at them. We finished up Friday with delivering the makings of root beer floats to our staff to include our contracted staff.

Thank you to our personnel club and staff that volunteered throughout the week to help make this week successful.

"Value of art in prison gives those who are familiar with breaking things an opportunity to create something. Something that brings joy or peace, happiness or thoughtfulness in other human beings."

The art room at Jefferson City Correctional Center has become a safe place for our residents to go and let our stress and frustration in a health way, while also creating beautiful pieces.

Thank you to our residents and staff for working together to help create a safe place while using their hidden talents.

August 31, 2026 — 155 is 10-7

After OVER 29 years of dedicated service working inside a prison, Sergeant Galbreath officially hung up her uniform and walked away from a job that required strength, courage, patience, sacrifice, and so much faith.

For more than 29 years, she got up, put on that uniform, and walked into a place that most of us could never imagine working in. She dealt with difficult situations, long days, stressful moments.

Today we celebrated Andrea for her milestones. Lots of staff and even retirees showed up. The amount of love and respect was shown today and on August 31 with her final radio callout shows the dedication she had to making a huge impact over the span of her career.

We thank her for her commitment for so many years. Like her daughter said "it's time to hang them boots up." Job well done Sgt. Galbreath!

We would like to congratulate Melanie Fitzpatrick on her promotion to Case Manager!

What happens when you get 65 staff, 70 guests and 220 residents together for a two day conference?

Culture change! We can make micro adjustments to make a big difference and that’s what GLA is doing for our community at Jefferson City Correctional Center.

August 26 and 27 - Staff, Guests, and residents gathered together to attend GLA. We heard from guest speakers, Dr Matt Lucas, Dr Krish Kandiah, David Ashcraft, Todd Henry, Bo Cornelius and Jake Bodine. On positive changes and how God has touched their lives. We listened to some of our residents about leadership, humility, integrity, and how God has changed their path to help others.

Director Trevor Foley, Division Director Myles Strid, Zone Director Earl Dye, Warden Kelly Morriss, Deputy Warden Kyle Kempker, Deputy Warden Norman Graham, and Major Justin Davison gathered for different round tables about the change.

We want to thank Second Mountain for their support. We’d also like to thank Willow Creek, God Behind Bars, Crossroads Church out of Cincinnati, Our Daily Bread Ministries, 4th Purpose, and LCBC, Bo Cornelius for all of their support leading up to these amazing two days, and their continue support.

Last but not least, we’d like to thank Bush’s Catering for providing amazing food for those two days!

You can read more about it in the Jefferson City News tribune.

JCCC offender organizations continue to make a positive impact in our local community! Residents and staff came together to pack backpacks filled with school supplies for students at East Elementary, Lawson Elementary, and West Elementary.

As an added bonus the VRAC organizations distributed school supply bags to children visiting this past weekend. A huge thank you to the organizations once again for giving back!

So far this year, JCCC’s Restorative Justice has donated 500lbs of fresh produce to the local food banks. The last 3 donations went to Building Community Bridges food pantry in Jefferson City. Today Casemanger Kurgas delivered 150lbs of cantaloupe to Catholic Charities Food Bank, along with zucchini, squash, tomatoes, and cucumbers. The garden is still producing so this year isn’t over yet!
