Behind every great historic moment, there was probably someone sweeping up right beforehand. And today, that someone is us!

We’re dusting off the past and getting our historic sites absolutely historic-spic-and-span for our upcoming visitors. We aren't afraid to brush up on our history—literally.

Here is a quick look at how we’re making our sites shine:
• Arti-fact or fiction? Artifact! Every single piece of old-school furniture gets the royal, lint-free treatment.
• "Floor-ward" thinking: We’re scrubbing these historic floors so well you could practically see your reflection from 1850.
• Window to the past: Washing the glass so perfectly that the view of the Show-Me State will quite literally show you everything.

Plan a trip to Arrow Rock State Historic Site to see how history shines! Visit https://mostateparks.com/historic-site/arrow-rock-state-historic-site.

Did you know is celebrated on the first Saturday in June? An atlatl is an ancient spear-thrower that uses leverage to achieve incredible velocity and distance. Long before bows and arrows, this ingenious tool helped our ancestors hunt and survive. Today, it’s a thriving modern sport that combines history, physics and a whole lot of skill.

Want to try it? Make plans to visit Graham Cave State Park on June 6. For more information , visit https://mostateparks.com/event/world-atlatl-day-2026.

Across 386 beautiful acres, visitors follow the paths once traveled by early hunter-gatherers who made their homes in these caves thousands of years ago. Recently, MoDNR Deputy Director Jake Buxton took in the breathtaking views and rich history this remarkable park has to offer.
