Ellettsville House of Prayer has been assembling Christmas gift bags for inmates for 27 years! We appreciate the invite to join them in putting together 245 bags today. Associate Pastor and Monroe County Jail Chaplain Jeannette Parrott controlled the chaos beautifully and we could not have done it without the fine work of Ms. Cassidy’s fifth grade class from Clear Creek Christian School.

Thanks to everyone who generously made this happen!

Appreciate Vice President Will Alderson and his team at Willoughby Industries hosting our team yesterday to highlight all of the products they manufacture right here in Indiana that will make our new facilities not only efficient in use of natural resources, but also safer for our inmates and staff! Congrats to them on many decades of success and ingenuity. Thanks also to Real Time Detention for facilitating the visit. First class group, as always. Our team learned a great deal.

Appreciate Christa Curtis, Board President of the Greater Ellettsville Area Chamber of Commerce, for taking time from her busy schedule to meet last week and discuss the new Monroe County Jail/Justice Complex plans. Her passion for her community is obvious and we look forward to working with her going forward!

P.S. Thanks also to Eric Spoonmore, President and CEO of the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, for recommending the meeting and connecting us.

Thanks to Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Eric Spoonmore for recently taking time from his busy schedule to sit down and discuss his thoughts on how the new jail and justice complex impact his constituents and how we can best serve their needs and address their concerns. Very productive meeting and much appreciated!

The Jail Transition Team appreciates Nick Hurt with Guardian RFID coming to Monroe County, in person, to give a demo and explain how their inmate tracking system can improve the lives of our inmates and staff. The Jail Transition Team is constantly looking for ways not only to build an excellent new facility, but also ways to improve our current facility in the interim.

Big thanks to Jefferson County Sheriff Ben Flint for hosting our team for a tour of his new facilities and all the advice on how to best build our new jail, Sheriffs Office and justice complex.

Tonight the Monroe County Council held a lengthy work session that included large chunks of time for both public comment and Council input to discuss the possibility of increasing the “jail tax” to fund a new jail/Sheriffs Office and the possibility of co-locating the Justice Complex (Courts/Presecutor/Public Defender/Clerk/etc). Their effort in tackling these complex issues and willingness to make tough decisions is much appreciated.

Our team looks forward to using this page to post updates and communicate with the public regarding this critically important project that will serve our community for decades to come.
