Congratulations to Jefferson County’s own State Rep. Cecelie Dunlap Williams for championing this legislation and leading on an issue that truly matters. Her work helped deliver a commonsense change in Missouri law to ensure pregnancy cannot be used as a barrier to divorce or legal separation. Her courage to share her story has now provided real protection for women and families across our state.

Pregnant women in Missouri will soon no longer face legal obstacles while getting a divorce.

Gov. Mike Kehoe signed into law on Tuesday legislation that removes possible legal barriers for pregnant women seeking a divorce. Kehoe also signed a vast criminal justice bill and anti-sex trafficking legislation.
