**VOTER INFORMATION – OFFICIAL BALLOT MARKINGS**

It has come to the attention of the Marion County Elections Office that some voters have raised questions regarding whether ballots may contain official markings.

For clarification, **Sections 62.008 and 85.0311 of the Texas Election Code address the required official markings on ballots**. Section 62.008 addresses the presiding election judge’s signature on ballots used on Election Day, while Section 85.0311 addresses the early voting clerk’s initials on ballots used during in-person early voting.

These statutory requirements help ensure ballots are properly prepared for voting. We appreciate our voters’ questions and encourage anyone seeking clarification to contact the Marion County Elections Office directly.
