Reminder that GCHS will have an alternate schedule tomorrow (Thurs) and Friday for semester testing. Anyone with a failing grades must report at regular time for remediation. All students report for their testing periods.

The Greene County School District Education Foundation will again be awarding Floyd Duane Dunlop Scholarships in the amount of $2000. The scholarship will be granted to Greene County School District graduates going into their second – fifth year of post-high school education in either a college or trade school program. Master’s Programs are not included in this scholarship.

Through Mr. Dunlop’s generous donation, the local Greene County School District Education Foundation was able to establish this scholarship to assist Greene County graduates in obtaining the financial assistance needed to continue to prosper in their educational pursuits. Scholarships will be awarded based on need and personal educational goals with a limit of two years of receiving the scholarship.

Today is the day! The Greene County High School graduation ceremony will take place this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Greene County High School gymnasium (1901 N. Grimmell Rd.).

Ticketed seating will begin at 1:15. If you do not have a ticket, general admission seating will begin at 1:45.

The event will also be live streamed on the district's GCCSD Activities YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/live/03MEO_ZoTtU . We invite you to attend in person or virtually as we congratulate the 2026 graduates.

It's been a great school year of reading, but why stop there? Sign up for a summer of reading fun at the Jefferson Public Library!

Embark on a journey to the past of Jurassic proportions with "Unearth a Story", the Jefferson Public Library 2026 Youth Summer Reading Shin-Dig!
"Shin-dig"? Yes, you read that right. They're changing things up this year. Kids and teens who sign up receive a "field journal" and a sticker...then continue to receive small prizes throughout the summer for every 140 minutes that they log! The more you read, the closer you get to their grand prize drawings.
Even better, summer programs are now open to the public! Enjoy "excavation digs", visits from Blank Park Zoo and the Science Center of Iowa, after-hours movie nights, and more planned this summer.
