👷‍♂️☀️ Working Outdoors? Defeating the Heat is Job #1!

As temperatures rise across Jefferson County, the risk of heat-related illness increases dramatically, especially for those working outside. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are serious, but they are preventable.

Whether you're on a construction site, landscaping, farming, or maintaining utilities, your safety depends on a crucial game plan: Water. Rest. Shade.

💧 WATER: Drink water constantly. Don't wait until you're thirsty. Aim for one cup (8 ounces) of water every 15–20 minutes.
⏱️ REST: Take frequent breaks. This is not wasted time; it’s recovery time your body needs to cool down.
⛱️ SHADE: Find fully shaded or air-conditioned areas for your breaks. Get out of direct sunlight immediately if you feel overheated.
