Praise the Lord!

Marion County Sheriff Office of Jefferson, Texas received a call regarding an older individual who was missing on his deer lease. Deputies, Texas Game Wardens, and Texas State Park Police responded to the scene and began to search. TPWD K-9 also arrived to aid.

After several hours, the individual was located by a Union Pacific Rail Road worker and returned to their vehicle.

Many thanks to all involved in the search and rescue efforts!

As with any outing, we ask that you let people know where you are going and when to expect you back. Even a short trip may turn into an extended stay. With higher temperatures this could become dangerous quickly.

Please stay weather wise.

Please stay weather wise.

The National Hurricane Center has upgraded the tropical system in the Gulf to Tropical Depression Five.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport says impacts to the Ark-La-Tex could include flooding from heavy rainfall as the system moves toward the Texas and Louisiana coast.

The greatest impacts are currently expected along the Gulf Coast, but heavy rainfall could spread into portions of East Texas Tuesday into Wednesday.

According to the US National Weather Service Shreveport Louisiana

Despite some recent rainfall, flash drought conditions continue across the entire Four State Region. As a result, much of the region is under a Burn Ban at this time. The wildfire threat will continue with no significant rainfall expected through the first week of September.

‼️‼️Marion is currently under a burn ban. Every county/parish that touches Marion is as well. ‼️‼️

Update: I’m told this is a “roaming crew” that does different things and works independently.

If you’re headed across the dam towards brushy landing give lots of extra time. TxDOT is working on something with no flaggers so traffic is badly delayed.
