Early reports with a mass casualty with reported multiple mayday’s from the scene. There have been multiple explosions. Air medical was requested and possibly fire apparatus also on fire as well.
Looks like multiple first responders as well as civilians are injured. The injury numbers continue to rise. Please take a moment to pray or just a moment of silence for all involved. 🚒🚑🚒🚑🚒🚑

Jefferson Fire was dispatched for a general alarm for a reported chimney fire on Panorama Dr., Sunday evening just after 7 PM. Utility 1 engine 1 and 2 as well as rescue 1 responded. Upon arrival, there was heavy smoke, and considerable amount of fire in the chimney. setting up ladder operations we were able to extinguish the fire, taking out considerable debris from the chimney as it was plugged pretty solid. Great teamwork tonight and glad we were able to help out these Jefferson homeowners as they are super nice people. We cleared the residence in just under two hours.

Friday March 20 turned into a busy day for Jefferson Fire/Ems as a little clipper came into the area dropping wet and in some spots heavy snow in a short period of time.

2:50pm Alarm Activation at the Jefferson community building.
Alarm was cleared and reset.

3:50pm we were dispatched to a vehicle into the guardrail on Owls Head highway. There were no injuries and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

4:15pm as fire units were clearing from the previous accident they came across a car that had just rolled over and the occupant was still inside. We were able to extricate the sole driver and although he was shook up a bit his only complaint was a sore elbow. Seatbelt and airbags saved some major injuries. The vehicle sustained major damage and was towed from the scene.

6:16pm as fire units cleared the station and were returning to their homes they witnessed a vehicle go off the road by Santa’s Village. The car got caught up in the slushy conditions and was teetering over a culvert embankment. Two adults and two small children were unharmed and the vehicle was pulled out by a family member with little or no damage.

Thanks to all lended a helping hand:

Appreciating the voters of Jefferson last night for burning the midnight oil and approving a new building project for the Jefferson Fire station. In talking with several towns folks and hearing how much they appreciate what we do was certainly nice to hear. This new facility will certainly be an asset to the town and approve our abilities to provide adequate fire/rescue capabilities. Once again we thank you and be proud of the community that you live in. 🚒🚒🚒
