05/23/2026
As we wrap up EMS Week 2026, this post goes out to all the Jackson County EMS crews and their families.
Thank you for choosing this profession.
EMS has changed so much from where it began that it is almost unrecognizable. You have stayed agile. The job requires long hours, and you have stayed committed to both your patients and your families. The care has become more complex, and you have kept learning. Most people do not realize all that you can do or how deep your medical knowledge has to be, but you were not deterred.
EMS professionals continue to carry enormous responsibility while often earning less than many comparable healthcare roles, yet you remain committed to serving this community every single day.
All the while, you keep pushing forward: Advanced airway skills. More than 40 medications. Blood product administration. Nation-leading cardiac arrest survival rates. Peer support initiatives. Participation in state committees. Conferences. Networking with other agencies and hospitals. Constantly improving.
It is a testament to the calling this job requires. A demonstration of love, community, and compassion for total strangers.
“Improving Outcomes Together” is this year’s EMS Week theme, and I cannot think of a phrase that better represents the staff of JCEMS.
On behalf of the entire EMS leadership team, thank you for what you do day in and day out.
Happy EMS Week.
