Yesterday, deputies from the Marion County Sheriff Office of Jefferson, Texas and the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire on FM 729.

Thankfully, no one was home at the time of the fire. Volunteer firefighters fought hard in extreme heat to keep the fire from spreading, and additional help from Mims FD arrived to aid in the response.

We pray you never have to witness it firsthand, (unless of course you join them!) but they are inspiring to behold.

We want you to know how fortunate we are to have such a dedicated and courageous group of firefighters in Marion County - and they are all volunteer.

🚨🚨EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT🚨🚨

Today we want to highlight our lead dispatch, Ms. Addie Vannes! She is a valuable resource to the Sheriff’s Office and our county, at large. Her keen intelligence shines as she handles calls with grace and takes it to the next level as she trains other emergency telecommunicators across North Texas.

We are blessed to have her and want everyone to know how wonderful she is!

Several theft reports came in throughout the day. As a reminder, in Texas, if you are married, your spouse cannot steal from you as all property is considered community property.

Several disputes were handled prior to any major issues.

A few fire calls came in beg us to remind everyone that Marion County is still under a burn ban.

Great job by all involved on this call. Family disputes/disturbances have statistically proven to be one of the more dangerous calls police officers respond to nationwide. We are grateful for the outcome!

Marion County Sheriff Office of Jefferson, Texas deputies responded to a cow running loose in the morning. While it appears she understood that she had the right-of-way on an FM road, it took some convincing to let her know that US Highways do not afford her that same luxury.

Deputies and officers from Jefferson Police Department responded to several trespassing calls throughout the day. We’d like to remind everyone that you are not allowed on properties that you do not own or lease. Texas protects the rights of property owners and we are here to help.

We are grateful to see fewer ambulance requests, as many of our welfare checks and missing persons calls ended on a positive note!

We would also like to remind everyone that Marion County is STILL under a burn ban as ordered by Judge Leward J. LaFleur.
