The Gallup House Beautifully renovated historic octagonal home in America's Heartland. Gallup, the father of polling. The home chronicles the Gallup story in pictures and text.

This three bedroom home, situated in the small town of Jefferson, Iowa, is the birthplace and childhood home of George H. The home is located 45 minutes from Ames, IA and Iowa State University, and 70 minutes from Des Moines. It is walking-distance to downtown Jefferson – a renewing small town in America’s Heartland - and to the Des Moines bike path. It has been recently renovated, the kitchen and

bathrooms have been completely updated with modern and high-end fixtures and appliances, and the bedrooms and living rooms are fully furnished. The house’s unique octagonal shape, original quarter-sawn oak woodwork, studio furniture, and “secret” back staircase add to the site's special appeal.

We are opening soon! The Gallup House will be open to the public from May to October, on Saturdays, from 9 to 12, starting on May 2.. A hundred years ago today, at the University of Iowa, George Gallup founded the Quill and Scroll Honorary Society for High School Journalists.
