Did you know? Every year, the Youth Department does an end-of-school year performance for all of Greene County Elementary School to promote our summer reading competition!

We adapt a new book every year and this year, we chose "Are We There Yet?" by Dan Santat...and when the book calls for a time-traveling car, we deliver 💪🏻

Kick off the Summer Reading Shin-Dig with us and our friends at Blank Park Zoo for their wildly fun "Zoo to You" program! See live animals and learn more about them, the zoo, and the importance of conservation. All ages welcome!

Join us at Russell Park on Tuesday, June 16 from 1 - 2 PM. This program is sponsored by Home State Bank, Chirp Coffee, the Friends of the Library, and the Greene County Board of Supervisors.

Registration is open for our 2026 "Unearth a Story" Youth Summer Reading Shin-Dig! To celebrate, we're giving you sneak peeks of what to expect for each age group this summer.

Don't forget! This year's a little different: all youth summer programs are now open to the public - no Shin-Dig registration required.
..if you DO register for the Shin-Dig, however, you can spend the summer winning stickers and prizes as well as getting closer to winning some of our grand prizes.

We got to play with tortoises, learn "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" in Spanish, and do solar science STEM activities with our kids this month! We're very lucky to have community partners that help us keep things informative and exciting for our little patrons.

Thank you to the Multicultural Family Resource Center, Greene County Conservation, and Greene County Iowa 4H for a wonderful May!
