Hurricane Isaias is now a post-tropical cyclone, but don't let your guard down! A HIGH WIND WARNING and FLOOD WATCH remain in effect for our area through Sunday morning, October 11.

💨 HIGH WIND WARNING | Until 8 AM Sunday
- Sustained winds of 15–25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph
- Downed trees and power lines are likely, with widespread power outages expected.
- Hazardous travel conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles.

🌧️ FLOOD WATCH | Through Sunday Morning
- Widespread rainfall totals of 1–4 inches, with locally higher amounts possible.
- Heavy rainfall may cause flash flooding, particularly in low-lying areas, poor drainage locations, and near creeks and streams.

⚠️ A FEW SAFETY REMINDERS:
✅ Secure loose outdoor items.
✅ Watch for falling trees, limbs, and debris.
✅ Avoid unnecessary travel and NEVER drive through flooded roadways.
✅ Stay away from downed power lines.
✅ Keep phones charged and prepare for power outages.

🚨 HURRICANE ISAIAS UPDATE | HIGH WIND WARNING & INCREASING FLOOD THREAT

Jackson County could begin experiencing impacts from Hurricane Isaias as early as MIDNIGHT TONIGHT, with hazardous conditions expected to persist for 18–24 hours.

💨 HIGH WIND WARNING: The greatest wind impacts are expected overnight, particularly between 12 AM and 6 AM Saturday, with wind gusts of 40–50 mph possible. Downed trees, power lines, and power outages are likely.

🌧️ FLOOD WATCH: The flooding threat has also increased. While widespread rainfall totals of 1–4 inches are expected, confidence is increasing that Jackson County could receive 4–8 inches of rainfall. Our area is under a MODERATE RISK for flash flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

⚠️ NOW IS THE TIME TO COMPLETE YOUR PREPARATIONS! Secure loose outdoor items, charge electronic devices, prepare for possible power outages, and ensure you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings overnight. Avoid unnecessary travel during the strongest winds, NEVER drive through flooded roadways, and stay away from downed power lines.

📢 Jackson County EMA will partially activate the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) beginning at 9 PM tonight to coordinate response efforts and support our community throughout the storm.

As Hurricane Isaias approaches Jackson County, we want to remind everyone that 911 should be reserved for emergencies requiring an immediate response from law enforcement, fire, or EMS.

✅ CALL 911 FOR:

- Life-threatening emergencies or serious injuries.
- Fires or other immediate threats to life and safety.
- Downed power lines that pose an immediate danger.
- Flooding or storm damage that places someone in immediate danger.

❌ CALL OTHERS FOR:

- Power outages or estimated restoration times.
- Internet, television, or telephone service outages.
- General weather updates or storm-related questions.

⚡ REPORT UTILITY OUTAGES DIRECTLY TO YOUR PROVIDER!

Power outages should be reported to City of Commerce, Georgia Power, or Jackson EMC, as applicable. Internet, television, and telephone outages should be reported directly to your provider.

🌀 HURRICANE ISAIAS 🌀

Jackson County residents should prepare for potentially significant weather impacts this weekend from Hurricane Isaias. While the center of the storm is expected to remain west of Georgia, strong winds, heavy rainfall, and the potential for tornadoes could impact our area as early as Friday night and continuing through early Sunday.

Jackson County is currently under a High Wind Watch and Flood Watch. Wind gusts up to 50 mph could result in downed trees, power outages, and hazardous travel conditions. Heavy rainfall may also lead to localized flash flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Now is the time to prepare! Secure loose outdoor items, charge electronic devices, prepare for possible power outages, and ensure you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, especially overnight.

Jackson County EMA is closely monitoring the storm in coordination with the National Weather Service and GEMA/HS. We will continue providing updates as the forecast evolves.

🚨 BOIL WATER ADVISORY UPDATE 🚨

✅ ADVISORY LIFTED: The precautionary boil water advisories have been lifted for customers served by the Jackson County Water & Sewerage Authority and Hoschton Public Works. Customers in these service areas may resume normal water use.

⚠️ ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT: Customers served by Braselton Public Works remain under a precautionary boil water advisory while awaiting water quality test results.

Braselton's test results are expected within the next few hours. We will share additional updates as soon as the results are available and the advisory status is confirmed.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as our utility partners work to ensure the safety of our community's water supply!

The boil water advisory for Jackson County Water & Sewerage Authority has been lifted. No contaminates were found in the water, so you can resume normal use and there is no need to flush any lines in your home or business.

Jackson County EMA is monitoring the current boil water advisory affecting customers served by the Jackson County Water & Sewerage Authority, City of Braselton, and City of Hoschton systems.

Please follow the guidance provided by your water provider and continue to use boiled or bottled water as directed until the advisory is lifted.

We will continue monitoring the situation and will share additional updates as they become available.
