🚨 IMPORTANT WATER SERVICE REMINDER 🚨

The Town of Jefferson would like to remind residents that, as we continue work on the Water Line Improvements Project, your water service will be shut down each night beginning Sunday, August 23, 2026, through Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

💧 BOIL WATER PRECAUTION:
As a precaution, residents are urged to boil water before consumption until further notice.

Please plan accordingly and share this message with family, friends, and neighbors who may be affected.

We understand the inconvenience this may cause and sincerely appreciate your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we work to improve our water system.

Important information
Tuesday August 18th 2926

Attention Town of Jefferson water customers.

The water pressure dropped too low last night so as required by SCDES we must issue a Boil Water Advisory. The affected area is the entire town limits located south of Church street with the exception of the west side of main between Church and Elizabeth. Please boil water to be consumed until further notice.

🚨Attention Town of Jefferson water customers. Very important information is in this message. Planned overnight shut down of the water system to occur starting 8:00 pm Sunday August 16th, 2026. Please read complete message.🚨

Many of you have seen no action on the water line project recently. Work will resume next Sunday.

The waterline project had been on hold waiting State lab sample testing and approval to operate the new line. We recieved approval to proceed. To give everyone an advance notice to be prepared, here below will be next phase.

We will have to completely shut down the system overnight to do the connections to the new line and abandonments of the old line.

The overnight schedule was to accommodate schools, the daily businesses in town, and the residents of the Town of Jefferson. Turning the water back on for the weekends allows restaurants to not be interrupted as well.

We are sorry for the inconvenience to the Town residents and businesses but the project will give us the ability to shut partial areas off and to have properly working fire hydrants. Instead of the shut down of the entire system and to increase fire protection of homes and businesses.

This is the planned shut down schedule for the next three weeks starting Sunday August 16th, 2026 and is subject to change.

Sunday August 16th - This will be the water system shut down plan and it begins 8:00 pm. The completion and water back should be back on by 6:00 am.

Monday August 17th - Shut down begins 8:00 pm. Completion and water back on by 6:00 am.

Tuesday August 18th - Shut down begins 8:00 pm. Completion and water back on by 6:00 am.

Wednesday August 19th - Shut down begins 8:00 pm. Completion and water back on by 6:00 am (Thursday morning).

Water service returns to normal with water back on to service residents and businesses. As listed, Thursday 6:00 am through Sunday 8:00 pm.

The schedule continues with the same days of the week after the first week and then continues for 2 more weeks.

Be prepared for emergency system wide shut down at anytime if a line breaks after pressurizing the lines. Those are unplanned and must be repaired.
