We hear you like our furry faces of JCC better than our humans. 👀🫢

friendly face of the day, OREO! If you have attended a local touch-a-truck event within Jackson County you have more than likely given the goodest boy belly scratches! While he does not have a “working job” around here, he certainly earns his keep by keeping spirits lifted on a daily basis at our fire department! Plus, what fire station is complete without a Dalmatian?!!

Next time you see our truck at a local community event, come love on Oreo! 🐾

“I have served as Warden of the agency for two and a half years. During that time, we have experienced quite a bit of transition and growth as is with any change of administration. We have witnessed the disappearance of familiar faces, and we eagerly watch as new and talented people have come into the fold. We have worked hard to build a team, seeking to place the right people in the right places and seeking to recruit the talent needed to push the agency forward. I am pleased to say that we are accomplishing the mission of building the best team to take the agency forward.

Just over a year ago (2/2025), I had the privilege of announcing that we had recruited Tori Townsend to serve as our Administrative Officer. She completed Basic Correctional Officer Training in October of 2025, and I had the honor of presenting her with her first badge as a Corrections Officer. In December of 2025, Tori became our Business Manager and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. That accomplishment has quietly gone unnoticed, but today, I have the privilege and honor to present her with a Lieutenant’s Badge and introduce her to you as Lt. Tori Townsend (Almost Lt. Harris!)

I am so proud to have her on team and thankful for her, as she keeps the business end of Jackson County Corrections running and does so much to keep me on track. In small agencies, we often become like family as we spend more time together than we get to spend with our own families. With Tori, this is no different. I have mentioned before, she is like a daughter to me and I am so very proud to see her grow in life and in this agency. I am also very honored to be part of that growth.

Thank you Lt. Townsend for all you do and Congratulation on your achievement.”

-Warden Minix

A huge thank you to Leadership Jackson for allowing Jackson County Corrections to be a part of Law Enforcement Day!

Coming just one week after Corrections Officer Appreciation Week and during Police Appreciation Week, the timing could not have been more perfect. We truly enjoyed the opportunity to share the many ways JCC serves; From the important work happening inside the prison, to our fire service program, rehabilitation, and the impact we strive to make throughout our community every day.

We are incredibly grateful for our friends at Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce and appreciate our partnership. Thank you for continuing to support and highlight the work of public safety agencies across Jackson County! 🖤🩶🖤

“If it weren’t for Jackson County Corrections, I don’t know where I’d be. The program has given me the tools and training I’d never have otherwise, and I’m thankful for that,” Larry said. “I’d tell all of them to take full advantage of this opportunity to better their future.”

⭐️ Major Success Story ⭐️

Larry Carpenter was one of Warden Minix’s inmate firefighters for years. He has now been out for a year and a half and has been employed as a firefighter with Lee County Fire Department since. To our knowledge, Carpenter was the second inmate in the state to achieve Instructor I certification. He then went on to achieve Instructor II, Extrication, Evaluator Certification, among many others. Carpenter joined Lee County better trained than most career firefighters, which is something we strive for all of our inmate firefighters to accomplish.

We are so incredibly proud of our success stories here in Jackson County and love seeing these gentlemen go on to . Thank you Warden Minix, Chief Bowen, and our whole Jackson County Corrections team for being passionate about what you do and working with purpose. They truly put their heart into allowing these guys to leave with a set of skills they’d never have otherwise.

Larry — we are so proud of you and can’t wait to see where this journey leads you. We are cheering you on all the way from Jackson County, always! 🚒🧯👨‍🚒

As we step into National Correctional Officer Appreciation Week, we want to take a moment to publicly recognize and thank the dedicated team here at Jackson County Corrections. This annual observance, established in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan, honors the critical role correctional officers play in maintaining order, ensuring safety, and supporting rehabilitation within our facilities. While much of this work happens behind secure doors and out of public view, its impact is felt throughout our entire community.

The role of a correctional officer is not an easy one. It requires strength, patience, integrity, and a level of resilience that often goes unseen. The job can be demanding, stressful, and at times thankless—but it is also essential. Every day, our officers show up with professionalism and commitment, working to create a safe, structured environment while also offering individuals the opportunity for accountability and growth.

We understand that this profession doesn’t always end when the shift does. The responsibility, the stress, and the emotional weight can follow our officers home. That is why we are not only grateful for our incredible team, but also for the families and loved ones who support them behind the scenes. Your encouragement and sacrifice play a vital role in the work we do.

To our team: thank you for your dedication, your perseverance, and your unwavering commitment to this profession. Thank you for the long hours, the difficult days, and the strength you bring even when no one is watching. You are the backbone of our facility and a true reflection of what it means to serve with honor. We are proud of you, we stand with you, and we appreciate you!

team member of the day — Lieutenant Lowe, Chief of Security and a proud member of the SRT Team at Jackson County Corrections. Lieutenant Lowe’s story is one of resilience and dedication. He grew up in foster care before being adopted in the 6th grade, an experience that helped shape the determination and work ethic he carries today. He graduated from Franklin County High School in 2007 and began his corrections career in 2008 at IW Davis Correctional Facility. After the facility closed, he transferred to Lee Arrendale State Prison.

In 2009, Lieutenant Lowe joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve, furthering his commitment to service. During his career, he spent nearly five years on the Special Operations Team (CERT) and was honored as one of the few selected to serve on the Georgia Department of Corrections State Honor Guard. With nearly 11 years of supervisory experience, Lieutenant Lowe has proven himself as a strong and dependable leader. He achieved the rank of Captain and served as Chief of Security at Lee Arrendale State Prison before bringing his experience and leadership to Jackson County Corrections.
