πŸš” Twiggs County Sheriff's Office – Click It or Ticket Campaign Results πŸš”

During the Click It or Ticket enforcement campaign conducted May 18–31, 2026, deputies worked diligently to improve traffic safety throughout Twiggs County through education, enforcement, and proactive patrols. The campaign focused on seat belt usage, child passenger safety, distracted driving, speeding, and impaired driving. The national Click It or Ticket campaign emphasizes seat belt and child restraint enforcement to save lives on our roadways.

Campaign Results:
β€’ 45 Adult Seat Belt Violations
β€’ 7 Child Restraint Violations
β€’ 12 Distracted Driving Violations
β€’ 92 Speeding Violations
β€’ 84 Other Traffic Violations
β€’ 7 Suspended Driver's License Arrests
β€’ 5 DUI Arrests
β€’ 2 Drug Arrests
β€’ 1 Felony Arrest
β€’ 16 Traffic Crashes (4 Injury Crashes)

While these enforcement numbers demonstrate our commitment to roadway safety, the most important statistic is:

βœ… ZERO Traffic Fatalities during the campaign period.

Despite experiencing significant rainfall and challenging driving conditions throughout the enforcement period, motorists and law enforcement worked together to help keep our roads safer. Every life saved makes these efforts worthwhile.

The Twiggs County Sheriff's Office thanks everyone who buckled up, drove responsibly, and helped make this campaign a success. Remember: Seat belts save lives, and safe driving is everyone's responsibility.

πŸš”πŸ’Ί CLICK IT OR TICKET CAMPAIGN πŸ’ΊπŸš”

The Click It or Ticket campaign continues through May 31st, and we want to remind everyone to:

βœ… Buckle Up
πŸ“΅ Put the Phones Down
🚫 Never Drive Impaired
⚠️ Slow Down

With the frequent rain showers we’ve been experiencing, we also want to remind motorists to use extra caution while traveling, especially on the interstate.

🌧️ Driving Tips for Rainy Interstate Travel 🌧️

β€’ Slow Down Significantly – Wet roads reduce tire traction. Reduce your speed on wet pavement to help maintain control.

β€’ Headlights On, – Turn on your low-beam headlights so other drivers can see you. Avoid using high beams in heavy rain.

β€’ Increase Following Distance – It takes longer to stop on slick roads. Leave at least a 4–6 second following distance between you and the vehicle ahead.

β€’ Avoid Cruise Control – Never use cruise control in the rain. It can make hydroplaning more dangerous and reduce your ability to regain control.

β€’ Give Large Vehicles Extra Space – Tractor trailers and buses create heavy spray that can temporarily reduce visibility.

β€’ Handle Hydroplaning Calmly – If your vehicle begins to slide, do not slam on the brakes. Ease off the accelerator and steer gently in the direction you want to go until traction returns.

β€’ Know When to Pull Over – If visibility becomes too poor to safely drive, find a safe place to stop until conditions improve.

πŸ”§ Quick Vehicle Safety Check:
β€’ Replace worn wiper blades
β€’ Check tire tread depth
β€’ Use your defroster to keep windows clear

We want you to arrive alive, and we would rather not meet at the scene of a wreck. Deputies are working numerous incidents involving drivers sliding into the median or onto the shoulder due to hydroplaning.
Thankfully, most have not resulted in serious crashes.

Please slow down, stay alert, and drive safely.

πŸš“πŸš² On May 20, 2026, Sgt. Golden and Lt. Sadoon attended the EMS for Children Cookout event, where they unveiled newly donated pedal carts designed to educate participants about distracted and impaired driving.

These carts will be a great addition to our traffic injury prevention efforts and help provide hands-on safety education in a fun and interactive way for the community.

A huge thank you to the Bluebird Foundation and Atrium Health Navicent Trauma Services for their generous donation and continued support of community safety initiatives.

We had a great time interacting with everyone at the event, and the new carts were a big hit with both kids and adults alike! πŸš¦πŸ‘
