Yesterday marked the first day of EMS Week, a national, weeklong recognition of EMS and its mission across the country.

At Cambridge Rescue, we are fortunate to have nearly 30 dedicated members. All of our providers are eager to answer the call, regardless of time, weather, location, or circumstance.

Thanks for the support so far. We are pleased to be your “neighbors helping neighbors!”

Cambridge Rescue has some exciting developments!

On Friday, PM Horner and PM Blair visited Demers Ambulances in Quebec to inspect our new A1! We are eager to get this updated ambulance into service to continue to deliver for the residents and visitors of the communities we serve.

Also on Friday, the CRS Station welcomed its newest member, a Mitsubishi heat pump system. This is an exciting development for our station and our providers, and it would not have been possible without the support of one of our own, Troy Toth.

Thank you to Troy, Red Rock Mechanical, and Mitsubishi for helping us secure this much needed, and much appreciated donation!

Tonight Cambridge Rescue personnel came together to say goodbye to Connor Contois, one of Cambridge Rescue’s AEMTs. Connor will be moving to South Carolina in pursuit of a position with a career fire department. Connor brought humor and camaraderie into the station, and a calm, compassionate, competent presence into the ambulance and on calls for service. Connor will be very difficult to replace. We will miss him dearly and appreciate his years of service to Cambridge Rescue.

Connor thinks he’s leaving Vermont for greener pastures, but soon enough he’ll realize there is no out-greening Vermont😉

The numbers are in, and 2025 proved to be a record year for Cambridge Rescue!

Over the course of 2025, CRS responded to 551 total calls for service, a record high number, eclipsing our old record of 523 by nearly 30 calls.

While 551 is the number of calls we received, 551 is also the number of opportunities that CRS had in 2025 to help a community member or visitor in their time of need.

Cambridge Rescue is deeply grateful for the trust placed in us by the Town of Cambridge and for the support of our community. It has been an honor to serve you in 2025, and we look forward to continuing to serve Cambridge with capable, competent emergency care in 2026.

Cambridge Rescue would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended the first annual Cambridge Holiday Celebration. We’re already looking ahead to next year’s!

All told, we raised over $600 for the Cambridge Food Shelf, hosted/fed approximately 135 community members, and had a great time while doing it! Thank you to all who attended and donated.

Finally, congratulations to Cambridge’s own Keith Cote, winner of the Cambridge Holiday Celebration Wooden Spoon Award! This award was voted on by attendants for the best donated food contribution. Trp. Cote makes a mean venison/moose chili!

This event was co-organized by Cambridge Rescue, Cambridge 360, Varnum Memorial Library, and the Cambridge Rec Board.

Congratulations to our newest Advanced EMT!! We are proud of all of your hard work!

With the changing of the seasons also comes the changing of the tires🚑❄️

CRS A2 got its new studded snow tires mounted yesterday. These tires allow Cambridge Rescue to continue to provide a safe, timely response to calls for service, even in unfavorable driving conditions.

As the weather gets colder, here are some pointers to keep you and your loved ones safe and on the road this winter:

1️⃣ Before you get behind the wheel, clean off your whole vehicle. Roof, hood, lights, mirrors. Snow flying off of your vehicle creates a hazard for yourself and other drivers.

2️⃣ Give plows, sanders, and first responders plenty of room. We appreciate it when you do!

3️⃣ Begin braking early. There are some conditions that good tires can’t overcome.

Shoutout to Notch Road Auto for keeping our trucks in tip-top shape year-round!

We’ll do our part to be safe this winter. Thanks in advance for doing yours!

Today, we honor the individuals who answer the call - day or night, rain or shine. From EMS, fire, and law enforcement, to dispatchers and emergency personnel everywhere, thank you for your service, sacrifice, and dedication to keeping our communities safe.

We are proud to serve alongside so many great first responders in Lamoille, Franklin, and Chittenden counties, and beyond!

If you see one out and about today, give them a wave, a smile, or a quick “thanks!” It really means a lot!
