How do you conduct endurance training? Our team took the opportunity to put on their firefighting gear, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and play a game of kick ball on the diamond. Think some folks will sleep pretty good tonight. What do you think?

Thursday evening Cambridge Fire and Cambridge Rescue headed into the Brewster River Trail System to do a little training on litter handling, and safely extricating a patient. The weather was outstanding, and trail conditions were good. Not always the case in a real emergency.

This evening the team spent time cleaning trucks, checking equipment and ensuring everything is ready for calls. In addition, some team members practiced donning (putting on)’ and doffing (removing) their gear and breathing apparatus.

Our hearts go out to the Morristown Police Department, as well as Sergeant Audet’s family, friends, and the entire public safety community, during this difficult time. We honor and remember Sergeant Audet’s service and sacrifice. Thank you to all who serve—today and every day. 💙

Busy week training wise at CFD. First, Wednesday evening a number of our team traveled to the Johnson Fire Department training building for some training,

Thurday evening it was auto extrication at Notch Road Auto.

We thank the Johnson Fire Department and Notch Road Auto for the use of their facilities.

The members of the Cambridge Fire Department extend our condolences to the members of the Morrill Fire Department, their families and friends of Firefighter Andrew Cross, who died in the line of duty on Friday, May 15, 2026, while responding to a fire and explosion at a lumber mill in Searsmont, Maine.

In addition at least 10 others are in serious or critical condition from injuries sustained at the scene.

This loss is felt throughout the fire service and beyond. Please join us in keeping those impacted by this tragic event in our thoughts.
