Jemez Springs Volunteer Fire Department Jemez Springs Fire and Rescue Emergency events are coordinated throughout Sandoval County by county emergency services in Bernalillo.

The Jemez Springs Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue works with its neighbors in La Cueva, Ponderosa, Zia Pueblo and Jemez Pueblo to provide fire suppression and medical emergency services to the Jemez Springs area. The JSVFDR always welcomes local citizens to join the department. Help of all kinds is appreciated, not just limited to rushing into burning buildings. Administrative support and Co

ntact the Acting Fire Chief for information about joining, training, or fire-wise advice. The Fire and Rescue Captain is also available to answer questions. Burn permits are issued by the clerk at the Village Office in Jemez Springs. For information call 829-3540 during business hours. You may also call 829-3131 if you would like to arrange to have apparatus and personnel standing by at your burn site. Citizens engaged in burning also must make sure that it is an authorized burn day for Sandoval County by calling 800-898-2876.

Highlights: Crews are nearing completion of suppression activities.

Many areas of Santa Fe National Forest remain closed to visitors, including:

Campgrounds Closed - Jemez Falls Campground, Jemez Falls Picnic Area, Jemez Falls Trailhead, Redondo Campground.

Day Use Sites Closed - Battleship Rock, Rincon, Spence Hot Springs, Dark Canyon. La Cueva Picnic, San Diego Overlook, East Fork Trailhead, and Las Conchas.

Fire Restrictions: Statewide fire restrictions are in effect. Campfires, fireworks, smoking, open burning, and oil and gas flaring are banned on all non-municipal, non-federal and non-Tribal lands.

In addition, the entirety of the Santa Fe National Forest remains in Stage II fire restrictions. No campfires, charcoal, coal, or wood stove fires are allowed on the Santa Fe National Forest.

The Village of Jemez Springs adheres to the Santa Fe National Forest Fire Restrictions. This also include prohibitions on Fireworks within the Village limits.
