A Special Delivery with a Big Heart 💜🧸

Today, our department was honored to receive several “Patrol Pals” boxes from an incredible young lady, Lila, and her project, Lila’s Patrol Pals.

What started as one child’s desire to help others has grown into a mission to bring comfort to children facing some of the hardest moments of their lives. Through donations of stuffed animals, Lila collects, cleans, packages, and delivers these special companions to law enforcement agencies so officers can provide a little comfort when it’s needed most.

We are grateful for Lila’s kindness, compassion, and servant’s heart. These stuffed animals may seem small, but to a child experiencing fear, sadness, or uncertainty, they can make a world of difference.

Thank you, Lila, for reminding all of us that you are never too young to make a positive impact in your community. We look forward to putting these Patrol Pals to good use and helping bring smiles to children when they need them most.

If your law enforcement agency, sheriff’s office, police department, or first responder organization would like to receive a Patrol Pals box, you can contact Lila at [email protected]. Be sure to include your agency name, how many trunk boxes you would like, and delivery information.

📚 Community Notice from Chief Scott McLendon & the Jena Police Department 📚

Shelvy, also known as “The Book Lady,” stopped by today and let us know she will be going door to door in our area selling books. She was very sweet and wanted to make sure the department and community were aware of who she is.

She is driving a silver Toyota Camry with a California license plate.

As always, residents should use their own discretion when answering the door, and please remember you are never obligated to make a purchase. If you notice any suspicious activity, contact the Jena Police Department at 318-992-5111.

Thank you all for helping us keep our community informed! 🚔📚

Do not park in driveways or yards unless you have permission from the homeowner.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as we celebrate the Jena High School Class of 2026 tonight. Let’s come together to make this a smooth and special evening for our graduates and their families! 🎓

Kyle is not only a hardworking and dedicated young officer, but also a godly man with strong values and character. 🚨 School Bus Safety Reminder 🚨

Chief Scott McLendon and the Jena Police Department would like to remind everyone that it is the law to stop for school buses when they are loading or unloading children.

When a school bus has its stop arm extended and red lights flashing, all traffic must come to a complete stop—no matter which direction you are traveling.

These laws are in place to protect our children as they get on and off the bus each day. Failing to stop not only puts lives at risk, but can also result in serious fines and penalties.

Let’s all do our part to keep our students safe. Slow down, stay alert, and STOP when the bus stops.
