TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG ARREST

On May 22nd, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Sgt. Josh Richardson conducted a traffic stop on a black Chevrolet Silverado in the Premier Subdivision area. Sgt. Richardson was assisted by Fleming-Neon Police Chief Dustin Jackson and K9 Ares.

During the stop, K9 Ares was deployed and alerted on the vehicle, providing probable cause for a search. As a result of the search, officers located approximately one ounce of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging materials commonly associated with the distribution of illegal narcotics, ma*****na, and additional drug paraphernalia.

Charges are pending/appropriate charges were filed in connection with the investigation. We remain committed to keeping illegal drugs out of our communities and appreciate the continued support of the public.

Earlier this morning Jenkins Police Department received information relating to an incident which occurred in Rocky Hollow yesterday from Sheriff Jones.
Based on this information Sergeant Richardson opened an investigation. During the course of the investigation he was able to obtain video evidence and statements. He then presented this evidence to Letcher County Attorney Jamie Hatton for review. An arrest warrant was issued for cruelty to animals and wanton endangerment.

This evening Sergeant Richardson, along with Chief Deputy Dingus and Deputy Jacobs of Letcher County Sheriff’s Office arrested Johnny Tinnel on the warrant.

🚨 Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests 🚨

On March 3, 2026, Sgt. Richardson with the assistance from Ofc. Wolford, Neon Police Chief Dustin Jackson and Kentucky State Trooper Chase Lucas conducted a traffic stop that led to the arrest of two males.

During the stop, officers detected the odor of ma*****na coming from inside the vehicle, which led to a probable cause search.

As a result of the search:

• The driver, a male subject, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, along with several additional traffic violations.

• The passenger was found to be in possession of fentanyl (First Degree) and drug paraphernalia

The Jenkins Police Department remains committed to proactive enforcement and keeping dangerous drugs off our streets.

🚔 Jenkins Police Department – Weather Advisory 🚔

We are currently experiencing light snow and very cold temperatures, with conditions expected to remain cold through Monday. Accumulating snow and flurries may create slick spots on roadways, especially on bridges, overpasses, and untreated secondary roads.

We encourage everyone to:
✔️ Slow down and allow extra travel time
✔️ Increase following distance
✔️ Watch for black ice, especially in the early morning and late evening
✔️ Check on elderly neighbors and family members

Our officers will continue monitoring road conditions. If you must travel, please use caution and report hazardous roadway conditions when necessary.

Vehicle Pursuit Leads to Drug Arrest

Jenkins, KY — February 16th 2026, Sgt. Richardson and Ofc. Wolford attempted to stop a vehicle that resulted in a vehicle pursuit and the subsequent arrest of an individual on drug-related charges.

At approximately 11:30p.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle. The driver failed to comply and fled, leading officers on a brief pursuit through the area.

Following the stop, officers made contact with the driver and conducted an investigation. During the encounter, suspected illegal narcotics were located. The driver was taken into custody without further incident.

The individual has been charged with:
• Fleeing or Evading Police
• Possession of a Controlled Substance
• Reckless Driving

On February 15th at approximately 7:30 p.m., Sgt. Richardson observed a male subject unconscious inside a vehicle in the Joe’s Branch community of Jenkins. Sgt. Richardson made contact with the individual to ensure his well-being.

Upon further investigation, the individual was found to be in possession of approximately 11 grams of suspected methamphetamine, several fi****ms, drug paraphernalia, and approximately $500 in cash.

The individual was taken into custody on drug-related charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
