Association for Adults with Developmental Disabilities' (AADD) mission is to provide education, discussion, and social activities that empower adults with developmental disabilities to live more independent lives while helping to support caregivers and helping to increase acceptance of special needs in our community. AADD creates secure environments where members develop the vital skills for lifel

ong independence—from employment, healthy eating, arranging transportation and managing personal finances, to forming and maintaining friendships and understanding the intricacies of public etiquette. Our programs help members break the chains of social isolation as they learn to maneuver through our complex world, helping them gain the self-confidence, pride, and greater independence that can lead to a long, healthy, and fulfilling life.

On Saturday, members of AADD & JCHAI had a wonderful day together enjoying a delicious Wawa hoagie lunch before heading to the Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. Members learned about the incredible art of mosaics and the inspiring story of artist Isaiah Zagar, including that it took him over 30 years to complete the Magic Garden.

Everyone enjoyed exploring the vibrant outdoor and indoor mosaic installations, viewing the current exhibit Between Roots & Wings by Santiago Galeas, and creating their own mini mosaic projects to take home. It was a fun, creative, and educational day filled with art, friendship, and community!

Friendship blossomed at the Saft Spring Fling for over 70 members and guests of AADD and JCHAI on Sunday!
Everyone enjoyed a delicious multi-course lunch with choice of entree followed by an indulgent ice cream sundae bar with fresh fruit and all the toppings imaginable. DJ Neal kept everyone in the groove with great music with lots of requests from members of their favorite hits. Whether dancing or just sitting back with friends and enjoying great music, there was something for everyone.
Folks came dressed to impress in their finest attire which made for fantastic moments at the photo booth!
The afternoon concluded with our traditional group dance to “That’s What Friends Are For” and a contest to see who would take home the beautiful flower centerpieces.
Sincere thanks to the Saft family for their support in bringing our Spring Fling event to life - special events like this one provide unique opportunities for our members to come together and celebrate friendship, community, and belonging all while making lasting memories 💐

⚾️ What a day at the ballpark!

48 members and staff from AADD & JCHAI had an amazing time cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies this Saturday as they took home a 4–3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks!

From classic stadium eats to the 7th inning stretch, the day was filled with laughter, friendship, and unforgettable moments. Nothing beats spending time together and rooting for our Fightin’ Phils! ❤️

Yesterday, AADD and JCHAI members stepped into a whole new universe at Otherworld — exploring 55 immersive rooms filled with incredible art, lights, and interactive experiences. From navigating hidden pathways to discovering surprises around every corner, it was truly an adventure for the senses!

After all that exploring, we walked over to Vince’s Pizza where we were treated to a delicious pizza feast, they took amazing care of us!

Days like this are what it’s all about: friendship, exploration, and making memories together. 💙

SundayFunday brought over 30 AADD & JCHAI members to the Philadelphia Wings Professional Lacrosse game at Xfinity Mobile Arena!
We had a great time cheering on the home team as they faced off against the Oshawa Firewolves - the energy in the arena was electric! Everyone enjoyed their favorite stadium foods while rooting for the Wings in the company of friends. Although the Wings weren’t winners on Sunday, all of our members certainly were!
Outings to big stadium events give members opportunities to exercise supported independence out in the community, practice decision making & interactions with cashiers when making purchases at vendors, making use of the buddy system when venturing away from the seats, and keeping ourselves in an organized group to stay safe, comfortable, & connected with moving through crowds. Members are always looking out for each other and lending a hand to their friends to make sure everyone is feeling good and having fun!

95 members and staff of AADD & JCHAI came together to celebrate The Magic of Love! 💖

We enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch, were amazed by magic with Rick Deesey, and danced the afternoon away with music from our favorite DJ Neil.

It was an afternoon filled with fun, friendship, laughter, and the kind of connection that makes our community so special.

On this MLK Day of Service, we are reminded that “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.”

We are so grateful to everyone who made our Day of Service meaningful — even in the snow! A heartfelt thank you to Cindy & Jordyn Dannenbaum, Margie McClaren from Beat It Beads (www.beatitbeads.com), and Sharon Rhodes from HELPING The Homeless (helpingthehomelessbackpacks.com) for sharing their time, heart, and incredible missions with our community.

Thank you to Wawa and Wegmans for keeping everyone fueled with snacks and smiles.

JCHAI & AADD members volunteered alongside community members — packing 50 backpacks, creating 92 bracelets, and making hundreds of Kindness Cards for Operation Gratitude, JRA, and Caring For Friends. Volunteerism builds skills, confidence, and pathways to future employment.

To all of our amazing volunteers who braved the weather — thank you for showing up with kindness and compassion. Together, we honored Dr. King’s legacy through service.
