Safe Families for Children-Greater Delaware Valley The young adult decides whether they want to live with the family, visit the family from time to time, or be mentored in other ways.

Safe families for Children of the Greater Delaware Valley, a ministry of Bethany Christian Services and local churches, helps families facing a temporary crisis, young mothers, and young adults aging out of foster care. We currently have 3 Safe Families programs in the Greater Delaware Valley:

-Safe Families for Children: the traditional model in which volunteer host families care for the childr

en of parents in crisis situations.

-Safe Families Helping Young Moms: pregnant and parenting teens and young women are hosted with their babies for up to one year. Parent education, developmental screenings, and support groups are provided.

-Safe Families PLUS: youth aging out (or aged out) of foster care connect with a family. Youth are also assigned an education advocate to help them achieve their high school, college or trade school goals.

You are also invited to join the Delco Gives celebration from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on May 7 at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex in Chester (the home of the Philadelphia Union) for a free, fun celebration of the nonprofit community. There will be food, drinks, games, live music, and non-profits to meet!

A Clear Path at the Crossroad

SCRIPTURE: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.— Matthew 11:28

DEVOTION: Many families today stand at difficult crossroads, unsure which way to turn. Jesus met people in these moments with compassion—offering rest, hope, and practical help. He reminded the weary that they were seen, loved, and never alone.

We can follow Christ’s example by offering a simple, steady path to those in need:

· Be present—your calm presence brings peace.

· Help them name the moment—clarity brings peace.

· Offer one small step—clarity grows from simplicity.

· Speak hope—God is still guiding their story.

· Connect them to community—no one is meant to walk alone.

PRAYER: Sometimes the most powerful thing we can say is simply: “Let’s take this one step at a time together—God is with you.” May we be people who point others toward the steady love of Christ, especially when they stand at life’s crossroads.

When a crisis hits, many in our communities have no one to turn to for support. That's why we exist. Safe Families helps keep children safe and out of foster care while supporting parents with resources and services to resolve crises.
