Jeff Davis Electric Cooperative Presents: Weathering the Storm

This documentary has been put together with Royal Engineering to showcase the last 20 years of Hurricanes that have affected Jeff Davis Electric Coop and its members. This documentary shows the devastation of Hurricane Rita, Hurricane Ike, Hurricane Laura, and Hurricane Delta. It showcases the resiliency of JDEC Board of Directors, JDEC Staff and Employees, as well as JDEC Members. We hope you enjoy it.

This is a picture of a broken tree limb which fell into the line and caused an outage.

Jeff Davis Electric Coop is continuously working to provide safe and reliable service to our members. Regular vegetation management and maintenance is a crucial part of our Operations and Right-of-Way Department. Ensuring proper tree clearance around power lines and is an essential part of our maintenance program.

As a reminder to members, if you see tree limbs that could potentially cause outages please report them to JDEC at 337-824-4330 or 337-598-5700.

Outage Notification:

Update: 7:23 PM - Tree limbs have been removed from line on Farm Supply Rd and power has been restored. If you are still experiencing an outage please contact JDEC at 337-824-4330.

Jeff Davis Electric members North of Jennings, Hathaway, and Panchoville are currently experiencing an outage due to tree limbs having fallen into the line.

Crew is in route to remove and restore power.

Estimated restoration time is 2 hours.

Member Notification:

Jeff Davis Electric Coop has contractors capturing GPS points on all electrical equipment. They are in marked vehicles, wearing JDEC vest, walking and using ATV’s access JDEC poles and equipment.

Outage Notification:

Update: 7:50 PM - All repairs have been completed and power has been restored. If you are experiencing an outage please call JDEC at 337-824-4330.

Update: 5:43 PM - Due to the down wire coming out of the Compton Substation. To safely make repairs additions members will experience outage. Members North of Welsh and Fuselier Cove will experience this outage.

Jeff Davis Electric Co-op members North of Jennings, Hathaway, and Panchoville are currently experiencing an outage due to down wire. Estimated restoration time is 3 hours.

OUTAGE NOTIFICATION: Thursday, September 3, 2026, Starting at 6AM

Jeff Davis Electric Cooperative will have a scheduled outage on Thursday, September 3, 2026. This outage is required to remove connections from the 69kV transmission line and connect equipment in the Manchester Substation and Hackett Substation to the 230kV transmission line.

The outage will start at 6AM and is estimated to last 10 hours. This will affect members on the Manchester Substation and half of the membership on the Hackett Substation.

Manchester Substation members will be affected for the estimated duration of 10 hours. This includes members South of the substation on Hwy 14, Hwy 14 East, Hwy 27, Bullwhip Rd., E Todd Rd., W Todd Rd., Nick Martone Rd., Harrington Rd., Amoco Rd., Sohio Rd., Fruge Rd., and Delaney Rd.

Hackett Substation members in Sweet Lake and Grangerville will be affected for the estimated duration of 10 hours. This includes members on Chalkley Rd., Pine Pasture Rd., Illinois Plant Rd., Navarre Rd., Hwy 397, Helms Rd., Wardline Rd., Robinson Rd., Rossignol Rd., Fruge Rd., Levee Loop Rd., Natalie Rd., and Hwy 27 South to the Gibbstown Bridge.

Members in Grand Lake, if you were affected by the outage on August 14, 2026, you will not be affected by this outage.

This outage will not affect members in Morganfield.

OUTAGE NOTIFICATION: FRIDAY, AUGUST 14, 2026 AT 6AM

Update: 6:12 PM - All construction and transitions have been completed on Feeder 17. Power has been restored. If you are still experiencing an outage please contact JDEC at 337-824-4330.

Update: 3:40 PM - Due to contractors have unforeseen issues in the transition from 69kV substation equipment to the 230kV substation equipment. The outage will have to be extended. Estimated restoration time is 6PM.

Update: 11:15 AM - Power has been restored to members South of the Intercostal Water Way. If you are experiencing an outage in Grand Chenier, Creole, Cameron, Holly Beach or Johnson Bayou please call JDEC at 337-598-5700.

The outage will begin at 6 AM and is estimated to last 10 hours.

All members South of the Intercoastal Water Way will be affected including Cameron, Creole, Grand Chenier, Holly Beach, and Johnson Bayou for 5 hours during this outage.
