❄️ EXTREME COLD WEATHER – SAFETY REMINDER ❄️
Northern Vermont is expected to experience dangerously cold temperatures over the next couple of days. Cold-related injuries can happen quickly—please take time to prepare and protect yourself and those around you.

Stay safe by following these tips:
🧤 Dress in layers – Cover exposed skin; hats, gloves, and face protection are essential. Frostbite can happen in 10 minutes to any exposed ski.

🧦 Stay dry – Wet clothing increases heat loss and risk of frostbite.

⏱️ Limit time outdoors – Take frequent warm-up breaks when working or traveling outside.

🚗 Prepare your vehicle – Keep your fuel tank at least half full and carry cold-weather essentials.

🔥 Heat safely – Use approved heating sources only and ensure smoke and CO detectors are working.

🍎 Eat and hydrate – Your body burns more calories in the cold; fuel and hydrate accordingly.

👀 Know the signs – Watch for frostbite and hypothermia in yourself and others.

If you don’t need to be outside, stay indoors and stay warm. Look out for your teammates, families, and neighbors.

Stay safe and take care of each other. 🇺🇸❄️

The brigade’s 1-172nd CAV recently honored CSM Matthew McLean and welcomed MSG Christopher Zigler as its next senior enlisted advisor by ceremony at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, VT.

Highlights included passing of the Woodbury Saber plus remarks from CSM McLean, MSG Zigler and squadron commander, LTC Garion Ford.

While MSG Dustin Dearborn served as commander of troops, Chaplain (CPT) Josh Broughton delivered motivating words. Special guests, COL Roger Zeigler and CSM Raymond Myers, VTARNG, presented senior leader congratulations.

CSM McLean was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal for his exceptional work. He also received commemorative gifts from CSM Andrew Campagne and the entire squadron. The unit gave the families of both leaders flowers for their love and support.

Please join us in congratulating CSM McLean, MSG Zigler, and all Troopers of our 1-172nd CAV as they move forward to write next chapters!
