If you were one of the 1,438,274 people who stopped by the Jerome Animal Shelter Vaccination Clinic on Saturday... thank you!
Okay, that number might be slightly exaggerated, but only slightly.
The more time we spend around some of our "regular customers," the more we love dogs. So when we had the chance to stop by and help out (and by help out, we mostly mean stand around and try not to be in the way), we jumped at it.
And HOLY GUACAMOLE.
This was our first time being involved with the clinic, and we had no idea what to expect. What we found was hundreds of people, hundreds of dogs, long lines, warm weather, and wait times that rival a detective's lunch hour.
But here's what really stood out:
Every single person we interacted with was kind, patient, polite, and appreciative. Not one complaint. Not one bad attitude. Just a community coming together to take care of their pets.
We wanted you to know that didn't go unnoticed.
While there were a lot of people helping make the event happen, including the Jerome City Fire Department, City of Jerome, Idaho employees, volunteers, and others, the credit for pulling off an event of this size belongs to Brittney and Jordyn from City of Jerome Animal Shelter. The amount of work, planning, and coordination required to make this happen is incredible, and they absolutely knocked it out of the park.
And a HUGE thank you to Anne Elise from Valley View Veterinary Clinic for donating her time, expertise, and patience while working through what seemed like an endless line of dogs and owners.
Jerome showed up in a big way this weekend, and it was pretty awesome to see.
Also, we can officially confirm there were a lot of great dogs....even the the 67 Chihuahua's!
Yes, there will be more clinics! No, we don't have anything to do with that, check with our amazing staff at the shelter, follow/watch FB for updates.
