🚨 Slow Down. Look Up. Arrive Alive. 🚨

As summer gets into full swing, emergency responders throughout our area have already responded to far too many motor vehicle accidents. While every crash is different, many share the same common factors: speed, distractions, and inattention behind the wheel.

Did you know we're currently in what's often called the "100 Deadliest Days of Summer?" The period between Memorial Day and Labor Day historically sees an increase in serious and fatal crashes across the country. With more drivers on the road, family vacations, summer activities, and teen drivers out of school, the risk increases for everyone.

A text message can wait.
That social media notification can wait.
Adjusting the radio can wait.

The life of the person in the vehicle next to you can't.
Before you put your vehicle in drive:
✅ Put your phone away.
✅ Buckle your seatbelt.
✅ Obey speed limits.
✅ Leave plenty of following distance.
✅ Stay alert and watch for motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, and farm equipment.

Every time our firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement officers, and dispatchers respond to a crash, we're reminded how quickly a normal day can change forever.

This summer, help us reduce the number of emergency calls by making safe choices behind the wheel. Your family, your friends, and our first responders are counting on you.

Drive safe, Jerome. We would much rather see you at a summer barbecue than at the scene of an accident.

If you've driven by Station 2 lately and wondered why firefighters are stretching hoses all over the place, don't worry—we're not trying to water all of Jerome or start the world's longest slip-and-slide.

It's that time of year again: Annual Hose Testing!

Every year, we test every hose in our inventory to ensure it meets manufacturer standards and is ready to perform when our community needs us most. These hoses are one of the most important tools we use on emergency scenes, so making sure they're safe, reliable, and ready for action is a top priority.
While hose testing may not be the most glamorous part of the job, it's an important reminder that a lot of what we do happens long before the emergency call comes in. Regular maintenance and testing help ensure that when the alarm sounds, our equipment is ready to go.

So if you see firefighters out playing with hoses, just know we're hard at work making sure we're prepared to serve and protect the Jerome community.

Yesterday we had a very special guest visit us at the firehouse! 🚒

Witley and his family stopped by to see all the excitement that happens around the station. We got to explore the trucks and engines, tour the firehouse, spray some water, and share lots of laughs along the way.

Thank you, Witley, for coming out and spending the day with us. You definitely made our day brighter and a lot more exciting!

🚒☀️ SCHOOL’S OUT FOR SUMMER! ☀️🚒
The backpacks are packed away, the alarm clocks are OFF, and summer fun is officially ON! 😎🍉🏊‍♂️
As everyone heads outside to enjoy the sunshine, we want to remind our amazing community to keep safety part of the summer plans:
🔥 Stay away from fireworks unless supervised by an adult
🚲 Wear those helmets while biking and scootering
💧 Stay hydrated and never swim alone
🌡️ Don’t leave kids or pets in parked vehicles — even for a minute
🚗 Watch for children playing in neighborhoods and near roads
Most importantly… have FUN, make memories, and enjoy every minute of summer break! We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and adventure-filled summer.
From all of us at Jerome City Fire Department — Happy Summer! 🚒❤️☀️

Congratulations to Firefighter Jason and his beautiful new wife, Carolyn, on tying the knot! 💍🚒❤️
This week, one of our own officially traded in “single life” for married life, and we couldn’t be happier for the newlyweds. Around the firehouse, we always talk about being one big family — and this weekend our fire family got a little bigger as we welcomed Carolyn into it.
Whether it’s answering calls at 2 AM, training together, sharing meals at the station, or supporting each other through life’s biggest moments, the bond between firefighters goes far beyond the job. Celebrating milestones like this reminds us that the brotherhood and sisterhood of the fire service extends far outside the station walls.
Please join us in wishing Jason and Carolyn a lifetime full of love, laughter, happiness, and adventure together.
And Jason… remember, at home Carolyn is the captain now. 😉🚒
Congratulations from your entire Jerome City Fire family!

A special thank you goes out to the moms who serve our community, support first responders, and hold down the home front while loved ones answer the call day and night. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.
We hope your day is filled with love, laughter, and time spent with family. Stay safe and enjoy this beautiful Mother’s Day! ❤️

Today, the Jerome City Fire Department had an amazing time visiting Horizon Elementary for their annual Field Day! 🚒☀️
Students got the chance to learn important fire safety tips from our firefighters, practice spraying water at a “fire” using one of our training props, and explore our new ladder truck up close. The smiles, excitement, and laughter made for a great day for everyone involved!
We love opportunities like this to connect with the kids in our community while teaching important safety lessons in a fun and interactive way. Thank you to Horizon Elementary for inviting us out and allowing us to be part of such a great event!
Stay safe, have fun, and remember — firefighters are always here to help! 🔥🚒
