🚒 Special visitors at the station yesterday!
The Jerome High School Tiger Dance Team stopped by for a tour and got to take a ride in the tower truck.

🚨 NATIONAL DOG DAY UPDATE: BACKUP HAS ARRIVED. 🚨🐶

Apparently the City of Jerome Fire Department heard about the recent string of stuffed-animal murders happening at the shelter and decided this situation required emergency intervention. 😂🚒

And boy, did they DELIVER.

Our firefighters showed up with an entire army of stuffed animals ready to report for duty. 🫡🧸🎃 Unfortunately, judging by the criminal records of our current shelter residents, we cannot guarantee the safety or survival of a single one of them.

In honor of National Dog Day, our dogs would like to formally thank the Fire Department for supplying them with:
🐾 New best friends
🐾 Cuddle buddies
🐾 Enrichment
🐾 And, most importantly… fresh victims. 😈

Somewhere in this pile is a stuffed animal blissfully unaware that its life expectancy can now be measured in minutes.

🔥🚒 HUGE thank you to the City of Jerome Fire Department for hearing our plea and absolutely showing up for our shelter dogs! You guys understood the assignment. ❤️

Happy National Dog Day from the Jerome Animal Shelter, where the dogs are celebrated and the stuffed animals should probably start running. 🐕💨🧸

Friendly rivalry alert! 🚒

One of our guys was out visiting Papa Brunee's Pizza & Subs in Stanley ID and ran into our good friends at Gooding Fire. Good conversation, good laughs, and... he left a little piece of Jerome behind.

If you see a Gooding engine rolling around with a brand new Jerome City Fire Department sticker on it, no you didn't imagine it. 😂

📚🔥 It’s that time of year again… BACK TO SCHOOL! 🔥📚

The kids might hate the idea, but the parents are jumping for joy… or at least that’s what we assume. 😂

With the school year starting soon, we wanted to share a few safety tips for kids AND parents to help everyone start the year off safely:

🚌 School Bus Safety: When the bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, STOP! Give kids plenty of room to safely get on and off the bus.

🚗 Slow Down in School Zones: More kids, buses, bikes, and pedestrians mean more reasons to slow down and pay attention. Put the phone down and keep your eyes up!

🚶 Walking to School? Use sidewalks and crosswalks when available, look both ways before crossing, and make eye contact with drivers when possible.

🔥 Know Your Escape Plan: Make sure everyone in your family knows two ways out of every room and where to meet outside if there’s a fire.

🚨 Check Those Smoke Alarms: Test your smoke alarms and make sure everyone knows what the alarm sounds like. If it sounds, GET OUT!

⚡ Watch Those Chargers: Don’t use damaged cords or overloaded outlets, and keep charging devices on a hard, nonflammable surface—not under a pillow or blanket.

👨‍🚒 And remember: If you see a firefighter at school, don’t be afraid to say hi! We’re friendly… and we promise there won’t be a pop quiz. 😉

Had a nice couple stop by the fire station today needing a little assistance.

The gentleman’s wedding ring, which had been on his finger for 60 years, had become painful due to swelling in his hand. One of our firefighters was able to use a ring cutter to safely remove the ring and provide some much-needed relief.

It’s not always the most glamorous or exciting part of the job, but moments like this are a great reminder of what being a firefighter is really about—helping people when they need it, no matter how big or small the need may be.

C-Shift was out training today with DC Sickles, Fire Marshal LaCelle, and POC Fred McDonald!

Vertical ventilation is a critical part of fire control and a skill that is becoming a lost art. Continuing to train and sharpen these techniques helps ensure we're prepared when it matters most.

A special thank you to Captain Fred McDonald of the Twin Falls Fire Department for assisting with this training and sharing his knowledge and experience. We also want to thank Jeff Schroeder for generously allowing us to use his property for this valuable hands-on training.
