๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฎ Our first graders look forward to a visit from their FFA friends every month.

After sharing a story about how ice cream is made, "Tales of a Dairy Godmother: Chuck's Ice Cream Wish" by Viola Butler, our enjoyed an ice cream treat and a video.

We love these connections and are grateful that our PK-12 building makes moments like these so much easier to provide. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’› Many of our school memories revolve around the people we share that time with. Often they include an adult who believes in us when we need it most.

During Staff Appreciation Week, weโ€™re recognizing our staff who help our students grow: teachers, counselors, the mental health team, Media Center Specialists, aides, substitutes and volunteers. Together, they make Hillsdale a place where students are encouraged, challenged, and cared about every day.

To each of you, thank you for showing up with heart. Thank you for helping our take flight.๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

๐ŸŽ“ We are honored to recognize and celebrate our Class of 2024 !

Today we shine the spotlight on Ella Davis, daughter of Joseph and Amanda Davis.

Ella received the distinction of being inducted into the National Honor Society and was named to the honor roll all 4 years, as well as being a four-year recipient of the Academic Award. She was also recognized as Student of the Month.

Ella was a one-year letter winner with our golf team, and she cheered for our football and boys' basketball teams, earning a 3-year letter.

She was also the homecoming queen for 2025.

After graduation, Ella plans to attend cosmetology school and eventually earn a Realtor's license.

When she was younger, Ella wanted to be a "hair cutter."

Her favorite Hillsdale memory is being in retired teacher Mrs. Kelly Snow's class with her "crazy activities" during Ella's freshman year .

Ella shared that Mrs. Snow is her most memorable Hillsdale staff member.

"[She] had the biggest impact on me with learning to not have a care for what others think of you and to just be yourself," Ella said.

One of Ella's major life goals is to have a family.

Congratulations, Ella! We wish you the best of luck in the future! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ‘ A huge shout-out to our Hillsdale PTO for bringing the love this week!

You stocked our workrooms, set up a great cookout, and made sure no one left hungry. Big thanks to our FFA students who kept the grill going, especially Wade Moody and Owen Sloan.

Weโ€™re also grateful to those who helped make the cookout happen:
โ€ข Certified Angus Beef for hotdogs and hamburgers
โ€ข Youngs Family Farms for plates, condiments, and napkins
โ€ข DR Lawncare for buns and chairs
โ€ข Nicole and Cody Radcliffe for chips from Frito Lay
โ€ข Brea Madsen for the use of her ice cream machine

And they didn't stop there! They teamed up with our principals to bring in Bloom Nutrition. The ordering was an adventure and the drinks were a hit.

Weโ€™re grateful for a community that shows up like this. That support makes a difference for our staff, and that carries into our classrooms every day. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ”๐Ÿชฑ With digging spoons in hand, our 7th-grade scientists stepped off the path to explore the living and nonliving pieces that shape tiny worlds along our storybook trail.

Students investigated the thriving microhabitats, uncovering insects, eggshells, and rich soil while noting how sunlight and wind shape these small ecosystems.

Hands-on learning like this helps our connect textbook lessons to the world outside their classrooms. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿคท Who knew mixing cornstarch and water together could create such big smiles, as well as a few grimaces?

Our 4th-grade made what looked like slime in Mrs. Brooke Power's STEAM class, but was really ooblek, a substance that is neither a solid nor a liquid.

Students quickly discovered it doesn't play by the rules they learned in Mr. Matt Sloan's 4th-grade science class. One moment it felt like a solid but in the next, it slipped right through their fingers.

The reactions of, "Wait...what just happened?" led to learning in action and provided a hands-on opportunity for students to satisfy their curiosities. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Music filled the cafeteria as students hit the dance floor, while across the hall, cheers echoed during a staff vs. student volleyball showdown.

Our 5thโ€“8th grade Student Council does more than plan activities. They help shape the culture of what it feels like to be a student at Hillsdale.

Dance parties and friendly competition give our something to look forward to, strengthening relationships and adding energy throughout the school year.
