Please join us in congratulating Correctional Officer Bethany Krankel on graduating from the Southwestern Illinois College Corrections Academy!

Over the course of the intensive eight-week program, Bethany completed comprehensive training in defensive tactics, fi****ms, and legal academics, preparing her for the challenges and responsibilities of a career in corrections.

Bethany began her journey with our office in 2023 as a part-time corrections officer. Through her dedication, strong work ethic, and commitment to the profession, she earned a full-time position as a correctional officer. She has consistently demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and a willingness to learn and grow within the department.

We are proud to have Bethany as a member of the Sheriff’s Office and are confident she will continue to make a positive impact in her role. Please join us in congratulating her on this outstanding accomplishment and wishing her continued success in her career!

The Jersey County Sheriff’s Office would like to recognize and thank Greg McDanel for his many years of dedicated public service.

Greg began his law enforcement career in 1987 and brought decades of experience with him when he joined the Jersey County Sheriff’s Office as a part-time deputy in 2015. In 2020, he transitioned to a full-time role, continuing his commitment to serving the community.

During his time with the Sheriff’s Office, Greg played a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of the courthouse, working closely alongside the judge and court staff each day. He was known for his professionalism, reliability, and steady presence.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Greg for a lifetime of service and his unwavering dedication to the citizens of Jersey County. We wish him all the best in his next chapter. 😊

Notice to some of our Jersey County residents who live in this area! Please be aware.

**THIS POST IS OUTDATED - OUTAGE EVENT HAS PASSED** AMEREN ILLINOIS - NOTICE OF PLANNED OUTAGE IN SOUTHWEST PORTION OF GODFREY

For our residents situational awareness, local officials have been informed this morning that Ameren Illinois has planned a scheduled outage for work to complete emergency repairs to the electrical infrastructure grid that will impact residents in the southwest portions of the village along West Delmar and several subdivisions along that route.

Affected areas will extend into part of D’adrian subdivision, Summerfield subdivision, Arrow Wood subdivision River Aire Subdivision and then west of Clifton Terrace and south to the neighborhoods along the river road.

Ameren has stated that automated calls will be going out to those residents who will be affected by the planned outage.

Ameren’s planned outage is scheduled for Wednesday night (7/29/26) from 10:00 PM until about 5:00 AM on Thursday morning (7/30/26).

If you are a landlord who has the utilities in your name, please share this information with your tenants if they are in or adjacent the affected areas.

The Jersey County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate the owner of a high-powered pellet rifle that was found in a ditch on East County Road, just south of the Sunderland Road intersection.

If you believe this item may belong to you, please contact the Jersey County Sheriff’s Office at 618-498-6881 You will be asked to provide a description of the item to verify ownership.

At this time the the Brighton fire department is working a large structure on US Highway 67 and Smitty Lane. A large amount of emergency vehicles have the right lane northbound of HWY 67 shutdown. Please use EXTREME caution in this area.
