Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out to you today with a heavy heart. Our dear friend and colleague, Tim, has experienced a devastating loss. Last night, while he was diligently working his shift at Wright Township EMS, he received the heartbreaking news that his home in Shavertown was engulfed in flames. Tim is a dedicated EMT who has served our community for over 15 years in Pennsylvania and an additional 10 years in New York. He is also a single father to two wonderful teenage girls, and this tragedy has left them with nothing but the clothes they managed to save from the fire.

Unfortunately, Tim did not have homeowners insurance, which means he is now facing the daunting task of rebuilding his life from scratch. We are aiming to raise $4,000 to $5,000 to help him replace essential items and secure a down payment for a new apartment. The Red Cross was unable to provide much assistance, so we are turning to our community for support. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in helping Tim and his daughters get back on their feet.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity during this difficult time.

Best regards,

Dear Community,

We, the first responders of Northeastern Pennsylvania, are reaching out to you for help.

Ordinarily, we are the ones who respond to your emergencies—medical, traumatic, and everything in between. We are there when you need us most. Now, we are asking our communities to come together and help us support one of our own.

One of our local paramedics, Emmett Thomas, a truly extraordinary provider, has recently been diagnosed with a massive tumor on his lung that also encircles his aorta.

Mr. Thomas is a seasoned paramedic who has humbly and selflessly dedicated his career to the service of others. He has instructed countless future and present paramedics who now serve at many local EMS and fire departments. He continues to mentor students in the field and serve on the front lines as a highly respected paramedic.

His compassion, dedication, and quiet strength have touched the lives of so many—patients, students, and colleagues alike. Now, it is our turn to give back to the person who has given so much to our community.

On Saturday, November 15, 2025, from noon until 6:00 p.m., a benefit will be held in honor of Paramedic Thomas at the Jenkins Township Firehouse. The event will feature a large basket raffle, a 50/50 drawing, and an assortment of food generously donated by many local restaurants that Emmett and his coworkers know and love.

We invite you to join us in showing support for Emmett as he faces this difficult battle. Your presence and generosity will help lift the spirits of a man who has spent his life lifting others.

For information on basket donations or monetary donations for the benefit, please contact Frank Cawley at 570-417-3852.

With gratitude,
The First Responders of Northeastern Pennsylvania
