Yesterday, the City of Jesup Fire Department and Police Department responded to a number of calls involving backyard burning. At this time, we want to remind all residents that a burn ban is currently in effect within the city limits of Jesup.

Our Fire Department is also assisting Brantley County, as fire conditions have the potential to spread into Wayne County. In addition, our teams serve as the primary emergency response for fire calls in all unincorporated areas of Wayne County.

We are asking everyone to do their part by complying with the burn ban and refraining from any outdoor burning within the city limits. Please understand that, moving forward, the Police Department will begin issuing citations for violations.

📢🔥 PUBLIC NOTICE: BURN BAN IN EFFECT – CITY OF JESUP 🔥📢

The City of Jesup has implemented a burn ban due to current dry conditions and elevated fire risk.

Effective immediately, the following are prohibited within city limits:
• Burning of garbage, household waste, yard debris, and hazardous materials
• All recreational fires, including campfires, bonfires, and fire pits

This ban will remain in effect until officially lifted by the City. Violations are subject to fines and possible legal penalties.

The National Board on Firefighter Professional Qualifications Firefighter II is an advanced certification of firefighters who have mastered the basic Firefighter I skills, and completed additional training on Fire Safety Education, Vehicle Extrication, Fire Suppression of Flammable/Combustible/Pressurized Fuels (pictured below), Basic Fire Cause and Determination, and Technical Rescue Support Operations. Once training was completed, all members were required to pass a written examination and practical skills testing administered by a Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council test proctor.

Getting in the Spring feeling at the dept. JFD Garden Club would like to thank Murphys Builders Supply and Jennifer Murphy Reeder for the donations of the buckets to start our little garden. Hopefully in about two months we will be reaping the blessings from the work put into our garden.

A big thank you to the City Manager, City Mayor and Jesup City Commissioners for dedicating your time to support us as we protect and serve our city.

This past week, a few of our firefighters were able to attend the Bearers of the Oath fire conference! This conference is full of fellowship and helping one another be better than we were yesterday led by top instructors from all around the country. Our firefighters trained on making aggressive fire attacks along with various search and victim removal techniques priorizing putting the citizens’ safety first! We even got to train with our neighbors from Hinesville Fire Department and firefighters all the way from Mexico! Thank you all for allowing us to serve our community and putting your trust in us!
