Today, we lost one of our own and our hearts are shattered. 911 dispatchers are truly the unsung heroes of the first responder world. Whether it was a calm voice navigating our response or a sweet “just checking on you” text after a tough call, Dede was one of the best!
Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and we grieve deeply along side all our county’s first responders.

Deshari Ashanti Gillis has faithfully served the citizens of Wayne County. Dede, thank you for your dedication, your service, and your voice that guided us all home. You are now 10-7. Rest easy, we will take it from here.

Today We Honor The Beautiful Life Of Deshari Ashanti Gillis. Deshari Was A Faithful Member Of Elevate Young Adults And A Cherished Part Of The Oak Grove Family. Her Presence Brought Warmth, Sincerity, And Light To Everyone Around Her. She Loved Deeply, Served Faithfully, And Carried A Spirit That Reflected Christ.

Though Our Hearts Are Heavy, We Are Grateful For The Impact She Made And The Memories She Leaves Behind. Deshari Will Always Be Loved, Always Remembered, And Forever Part Of The Oak Grove Family.

A HUGE heartfelt “Thank you!” goes out to the amazing students and teachers of Wayne Christian Academy’s Kindergarten and 3rd grade fo making our crews feel special and remebered this holiday season.

WCOEMS was “adopted” for Christmas and medics were showered with station snacks, goodies, gift cards, and Christmas cards.

Losing one of our own, especially such a dedicated hero, leaves a void that can't be filled. We stand with his family and the citizens he proudly served, in grief and remembrance.
