Wayne County Family Connection www.waynehelp.com Currently we have 5 Strategy Teams and we welcome every citizen to use their talents and serve on at least one.

Family Connection was founded in the early 90's by former Governor Zell Miller after Georgia ranked 50th in the nation for family and children welfare. Family Connection is a community collaborative comprised of representatives from all government, state, and local institutions, businesses, and family members who have a vision for making Wayne County a great place to live, work, and play...for all

. We assess the issues in our community, determine how our resources can best work together to address those issues, and focus on community development realizing that all citizens are valuable and have gifts, talents, skills, and abilities to contribute. Safe Kids of Wayne, Drug Free Wayne, Educated and Working Community, Positive Parenting and Prevent Child Abuse Wayne, and Youth Development. If you are unsure of where you best fit but have a passion for your community, we use the Asset Based Community Development model for determing gifts. Your Collaborative meets the 4th Monday of the month, except for July and December, at 9:30 a.m. in the Family Connection Office located across from the High School Base Ball Field entrance.

Youth in Community Summit coming up on May 17th at Altamaha Technical College. 150 students will spend half a day attending leadership development mini workshops facilitated by four leadership teams from Arthur Williams and Martha Puckett Middle Schools, Wayne County High School, and Thomas P. James Academy. Developing today's leaders today!

Speaking to the Wayne Ministerial Coalition tomorrow morning. Looking forward to having breakfast with a great group of Wayne County Leaders. Topic "The Power of Positive Deviance and Gift Identification", to engage community members in using their gifts, skills and abilities to build human, leadership, community, and economic capacity. All too often we take the top down approach in trying to build capacity in any endeavor, but if the foundation is broke, the building you are trying to construct on it will not be sustainable.

Family Connection meeting was great on Monday. We are in the process of our Annual Plan for FY13-14 and we would like to know what is currently NOT being addressed in our community. Collaborative Meeting on Monday, January 28th starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Family Connection Office. The next two meetings will be to establish our FY13-14 Annual Plan. This is a community wide collaborative and I invite you to come, let's decide together what gap we will challenge and how we can best work together to fill that gap, together.
