🚨🚨We had 3 mobile homes and several outbuildings actively catching on fire when we arrived today, caused by outdoor burning. That little bit of rain yesterday didn’t fix these dry conditions. The dry grass is highly flammable, and this is just one of about 20 close calls we’ve had in the last two months across the county.

Y’all please use EXTREME‼️CAUTION‼️ right now. Do NOT burn cardboard or paper‼️We’ve responded to multiple fires where cardboard blew out of burn barrels, hit the grass, and took off fast! Putting homes, vehicles, and neighboring property's at risk.

If you choose to burn, stay with your fire, have water ready, put it out when done and think about your neighbors and first responders before you light anything.

These pictures from today, shows how close this was! The skirting / underpinning was melting & burning.... This is happening everyday seems like.

🚨🚨Please read!🚨🚨This little bit of rain isn’t enough, to break these dry conditions. The grass will be dried back out just hours after it stops.

Fire units all across the county have been extremely busy over the past couple of weeks responding to fires threatening property, many sparked by embers from burn barrels or leftover backyard burn piles.

We’ve already seen the loss of cars, homes, campers, and other structures, along with several very close calls to other homes as fire spreads quickly in the wind and dry conditions.

We encourage you not to burn but if you choose to, please use EXTREME‼️ caution. Stay with your fire, keep water close by, extinguish the coals when done and think about your neighbors and the first responders working to keep everyone safe.

Let’s all do our part. Thanks.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mr. Dean Johnson, one of the original founding members of the Madray Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Johnson was there from the very beginning, helping build the department with dedication, and pride. There weren’t many meeting nights he missed, and more often than not, he was the first to show up.
We are grateful for his years of service & his loyalty! Mr. Johnson will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
