💧 HYDRANT FLUSHING NOTICE 💧

The City of Jesup Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants throughout the community on September 14, 15, and 16.

Routine flushing of water mains is necessary to help maintain water quality and prevent taste and odor issues. Flushing increases the velocity of water moving through the mains, helping to loosen and remove accumulated deposits and sediment.

During flushing operations, residents may experience temporary changes in water taste, odor, or discoloration. These conditions are normal and should be temporary. Discolored water may also stain laundry, so please keep this in mind when using water during the flushing period.

Water Service Interruption Notice
The City of Jesup will be replacing another broken water valve on Friday, August 21. Water service will be shut off for a few hours during daytime work operations on that day.
The following areas will be affected:
• 100, 200, 300 & 400 blocks of Hawley Street
• All of Christopher Circle
• 600 block of 4th Street
• 100 & 200 blocks of Young Street
Residents may experience a temporary loss of water service while the repairs are completed.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these necessary repairs to improve system reliability.

The City of Jesup will be replacing two broken water valves on Tuesday, August 18, and Wednesday, August 19. Water service will be shut off for a few hours during daytime work operations on each day.
The following areas will be affected:
• North Street from 6th Street to 10th Street
• All of Dohrmann Street
• All of Duroe Street
• 100 & 200 blocks of 6th Street
• 100, 200 & 300 blocks of Main Street
• North Mobile Home Park
Residents may experience a temporary loss of water service while the repairs are completed.

The City of Jesup, the Jesup Downtown Revitalization Committee, and the Buchanan County Economic Development Commission are asking residents, business owners, employees, students, property owners, and visitors to help shape the future of Downtown Jesup by completing a short community survey.
The survey is part of Jesup's Downtown Assessment, which will be conducted September 2, 3, and 4, 2026, by a five-person team from the Iowa Economic Development Authority's Iowa Downtown Resource Center. The team will review Downtown Jesup's strengths, challenges, and opportunities and develop practical recommendations to support future revitalization efforts.
Community feedback is a critical part of the assessment. The survey asks participants what they value about downtown, what could be improved, and what they would like to see in the future. Responses will help the assessment team identify priorities related to local businesses, downtown investment, walkability, public spaces, community events, building improvements, and the overall downtown experience.
You do not need to own a downtown business to participate. Anyone who lives, works, shops, dines, attends events, or visits Jesup has a valuable perspective. The survey takes only a few minutes, and every response will help create a more complete picture of the community's needs and goals.

🚨 Water Tower Maintenance Notice – Water Use Restrictions Lifted 🚨
The water tower is back to fully operational and we are no longer under pump pressure. The Splash Pad should be available for use next week. We appreciate everyone's patience while undergoing this necessary maintenance.

Say hello to Povilas, he has obtained a permit for door to door sales for the City of Jesup from 7/31/26-8/14/26. Povilas comes here from Europe and will be selling books. If you see him around town make sure to give him a warm welcome!
Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that he may be knocking at your door. No need to be alarmed or call authorities for suspicious activity as he is legitimate.
