NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN for NORTH AVENUE

The Borough of Jim Thorpe has put a new fall weekend "One Way" traffic pattern in effect for North Avenue beginning Friday October 16, 2026 at 4pm. North Avenue will convert to a "One Way" Roadway with vehicles only permitted to travel West from Walnut Avenue to Pine Avenue. Please Park all vehicles facing West on North Avenue from Walnut Avenue to Pine Avenue. All vehicles may return to normal parking on Monday October 19, 2026 at 7am. This will be the new parking pattern for the rest of the weekends in October and first two weekends in November. 7th ANNUAL FEED OUR VETERANS EVENT!

The Jim Thorpe Police Department was again challenged by the Lehighton and Palmerton Police Departments to see which Department collects the most non-perishable food items for the 7th Annual Operation Give a Gobbler. Residents can drop off their non-perishable food items in the foyer at the Jim Thorpe Municipal Building or the foyer of the Jim Thorpe Police Department no later than Tuesday November 17th, 2026. Thank you JT Community for all your support and a big "Thank You" to all our Veterans and active Military Soldiers.

The Jim Thorpe Police Department would like to send out a big "THANK YOU" to the Jim Thorpe Community Watch and Tommy's Subs for providing meals for all our downtown details to include Police, Fire and BCM working the Fall Festival this past weekend.

We're excited to welcome visitors to our small town of Jim Thorpe! To help everyone have an enjoyable experience, please keep these simple guidelines in mind:

PARKING: Please park only in designated areas and follow all posted signs. DO NOT block driveways, sidewalks, fire hydrants, intersections, yellow zones or emergency access.

PEDESTRIANS: Watch for people crossing and walking on the side of the road.

RESPECT NEIGHBORHOODS: Please respect the residents of Jim Thorpe. Remember that people live and work in Jim Thorpe every day. A little courtesy goes a long way.

KEEP IT CLEAN: Please use trash receptacles and leave our streets, parks and public space as you found them.

When visiting Jim Thorpe for our upcoming October fall weekends, the listed parking lots will be available for parking. Some of the parking lots listed below will provide shuttle service. NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN!

The fall weekend traffic pattern for Center Avenue and South Avenue will begin on Friday October 2, 2026 at 4pm. Please Park all vehicles facing West on Center Avenue from Walnut Avenue to Cedar Avenue. On South Avenue all vehicles, will park facing East from Walnut to Cedar Ave. All vehicles may return to normal parking on Monday October 5, 2026 at 7am. FULL TIME POLICE OFFICER- BOROUGH OF JIM THORPE

The Borough of Jim Thorpe will be accepting applications to establish a civil service list through civil service testing for the position of full-time Police Officer for the Jim Thorpe Police Department. The applicant must be ACT 120 certified to apply for this position. Applications may be obtained at the Borough/Police Office, 115 East Tenth Street, Jim Thorpe Pa 18229, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30am to 4:00pm. There will be a $50.00 (non-refundable) application fee due with the returned application. Applications must be returned in person. Application deadline is Friday October 2, 2026 at 4:30pm. EOE
