Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania (LPPA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Kevin Gaughen of Cumberland County as Executive Director. The Board’s decision was unanimous.
Libertarian Party membership has grown 92% over the last ten years, and the number of elected libertarian politicians has increased 53% over the last two years. A testament to the Libertarian Party’s fast growth, Gaughen’s hiring marks the first time the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania has hired an executive director.
Gaughen is a well-known libertarian organizer who has coordinated volunteer efforts for the Libertarian Party for the last 20 years. His most recent effort was statewide coordination of the Party’s 2018 ballot access drive, which resulted in the largest number of Libertarians on the ballot across Pennsylvania in 14 years.
Prior to taking the new position, Gaughen worked in the real estate business as a broker, investor, and developer. Gaughen has a bachelor of science degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He is also a best-selling science fiction author.
The LPPA Board felt Gaughen to be a natural fit to manage the fast-growing organization, given his business acumen and his established history of activism.
