SIHAF Board Members and Citadel Cadets gathered today at Fields to Families Huckleberry Farm with Farmer Chris Pruitt and Joanna Horres on Wadmalaw Island. Today a fence was built around 2 large fields to discourage deer from eating the crops to be planted in these fields. Once harvested, the produce will be donated to SHIAF's Blessing Basket Program and many other programs and local food pantries that distribute food/meals to families in need on the sea islands. So far this year, Fields to Families has donated over 48,000 lb. of produce. The Sea Islands Hunger Awareness Foundation (SIHAF) contributed $10,000.00 to Fields to Families to cover the cost of this project. Check back soon for more photos and information about this amazing event.
