Wildfire smoke continues to fill in across northern IL and northwest IN and is causing very poor air quality in addition to reduced visibilities. If driving make sure to slow down and use your low beams so others can see you.

Over the next few months, we will address illicit discharges and pollution in our waterways. This week, our focus is on responsible herbicide use. Each year, we inspect and document stormwater runoff locations, known as outfalls, which are marked with a sign and number throughout the township. During inspections, we prioritize identifying dry-weather flow, structural damage, sediment accumulation, and signs of water contamination, including unusual odors, discoloration, or oil sheens.
