๐Ÿš“ A Special Ride to School! ๐ŸŽ’๐Ÿ“š

There were a few extra smiles on the way to school this morning!

Officer Abrahamsen had the opportunity to give several of our young community members a special ride to school in a Johnsburg Police squad car. For the students, it was a fun way to start the school dayโ€”and for us, it was another opportunity to spend some positive time with the kids in our community.

Building relationships with our youngest residents is one of the best parts of community policing. We hope they enjoyed their police es**rt and have a great day at school!

Thanks for riding with us! ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ“š BACK TO SCHOOL โ€“ LET'S KEEP OUR KIDS SAFE! ๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿšธ

The first day of school is almost here! As students throughout Johnsburg head back to the classroom on Monday, August 17, we ask everyone to slow down, stay alert, and help make this a safe and successful school year for our children.

Over the coming weeks, you'll notice:
๐Ÿšถ More children walking and biking to school.
๐ŸšŒ School buses making frequent stops throughout the Village.
๐Ÿšธ Increased pedestrian activity at crosswalks before and after school.

Please remember:

๐Ÿ›‘ STOP for school buses whenever their red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended. Passing a stopped school bus is dangerous and carries significant penalties under Illinois law.

๐Ÿšถ Yield to pedestrians. Drivers must stop for pedestrians who are lawfully crossing the roadway in a crosswalk.

๐Ÿ“ต Eliminate distractions. Put your phone away, obey posted speed limits, and give yourself extra time during your morning and afternoon commute.

Every child deserves to arrive at school safely and return home to their family at the end of the day. Together, we can make that happen.

We wish all of our students, teachers, school staff, and families a safe, successful, and exciting school year!

๐Ÿš“๐Ÿ”ฅ 2026 McHenry County Torch Run for Special Olympics ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš“

Last Saturday, members of law enforcement agencies from across McHenry County came together for the McHenry County leg of the Torch Run for Special Olympics.

The 3.6-mile run began at Rescue Squad Park in Johnsburg and concluded at Walmart, with officers, deputies, and supporters carrying the Flame of Hope through our community in support of Special Olympics athletes.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is more than just a runโ€”it is a year-round movement dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Special Olympics, helping provide opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities to train, compete, and achieve their goals.

The Johnsburg Police Department would like to thank all participating law enforcement agencies, volunteers, supporters, and community members who helped make this event a success. Most importantly, we thank the incredible Special Olympics athletes who inspire us every day through their determination, courage, and perseverance. A special thank you to the Johnsburg Walmart for generously providing water, Gatorade, and bananas for participants at the finish line. Your support and hospitality were greatly appreciated by everyone involved.
