Fun Facts:

What is the total annual savings provided by volunteer firefighters?

Volunteer firefighters provide an estimated $46.9 billion in annual savings to taxpayers across the United States. This figure represents the avoided costs of salaries, benefits, and administrative overhead that municipalities would otherwise incur if forced to transition to all-career departments.

According to data from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), this "invisible subsidy" remains a cornerstone of fiscal stability for thousands of small towns and rural counties. Without this volunteer labor, many local governments would face immediate financial insolvency.

A few pictures from today’s activities. As the pictures will show the very quick response likely saved this home. Photos courtesy of Justin Kohner. There were no injuries to report and only limited damage to property.

Yesterday JCVFD had the opportunity to assist Blanco ESD2 with a vehicle fire on US281. Although there was a quick response, these RV rigs just do not fair well in a fire. No injuries to people were reported.

Today was a great day at the LBJ Elementary school. We had an opportunity to educate the children on fire safety and prevention. These kids are very inquisitive and I must say there were a few questions I would expect from adults.
We are all looking forward to next year. Don’t forget to stop by the station on Halloween. We have treat and eats for all.

🚨 Did you know that most fire departments rely on volunteers? Ordinary people with jobs, families, and responsibilities who step forward when their community needs them most. True heroes don't always wear capes. Sometimes they wear bunker gear. 🚒❤️

On Monday, August 31st, JCVFD along with several other agencies responded to a major wildfire in Round Mountain. Even with a little rain, there is still a serious fire risk. This fire grew to well over 10 acres in only minutes. Please be careful.
