Alzheimer’s Tennessee wants to join the world in paying tribute to Dolly Parton, the ORIGINAL “Tennessee Original”. Like Dolly, Alzheimer’s Tennessee cherishes its East Tennessee roots while sharing our love with the whole state. Dolly’s legacy will undoubtedly live on through her music as well as countless people and causes she supported.
We know Dollywood is a big part of her lasting memory that always makes us smile. Dolly’s namesake theme park and its employees have been wonderful partners to Alzheimer’s Tennessee for more than three decades. We appreciate Dolly and Dollywood’s incredible contribution and know her words to “Dream more, learn more, care more, and be more” apply to all of us, including Tennessee families figuring out how to live with dementia. Thank you for “alz” the memories, Dolly.
With heavy hearts, the Dollywood family mourns the passing of our beloved Dreamer-in-Chief, Dolly Parton. Everyone at Dollywood shares the sorrow of countless people around the world touched by Dolly’s warmth, wisdom and generous spirit.
Dolly’s heartfelt wish was that Dollywood always remain a place of joy, hope and togetherness—a space where families and friends could honor her memory, not with silence, but with laughter, music and shared dreams.

Dolly’s enduring legacy extends beyond her music and generosity to her remarkable work ethic—an inspiration to people everywhere. In her spirit, Dollywood will be open Wednesday as Dolly wanted, always reminding everyone with her signature sparkle -- “the show must go on.” Together, we honor her by carrying forward her message of love, perseverance, and hope.
