What an incredible summer it has been! ☀️

July was filled with laughter, friendships, and community as our residents came together to make lasting memories. From the fun and games at Central Baptist Church Summer Camp, to the wonderful visits from the teachers and principal of North Side Elementary, to our Community Summer Bash and the Kids' Final Summer Bashes, there was something for everyone to enjoy!

These events are about so much more than just having fun. They strengthen our community, create meaningful connections, and remind us what can happen when neighbors, volunteers, schools, churches, and community partners come together.

One of the highlights of our Final Summer Bash was welcoming the City of Johnson City Fire Department! 🚒 Our kids had the opportunity to meet the firefighters, explore the fire engine, and even climb aboard the rig for a hands-on experience they won't soon forget. Thank you to our local firefighters for taking the time to invest in our youth and make the day so special!

While summer may be coming to a close and students are heading back to school, the smiles, friendships, and memories made over the past month will stay with us for a long time. Thank you to everyone who helped make this summer one to remember. We can't wait to see what the next season brings! 🍎📚🎉

As Independence Day approaches, we hope our JCHA community families and employees are looking forward to a wonderful holiday filled with laughter, good food, great memories, and time spent with family and friends.

Whether you're gathering with family, enjoying a community celebration, watching fireworks, or simply relaxing at home, we hope your holiday is filled with joy and happiness.

The Fourth of July is a time to celebrate not only our nation's independence, but also the strength of our communities and the neighbors who make them special.

🎨✨ Creativity was on full display at JCHA's Imagination Station!

Our young residents spent the afternoon exploring their imaginations through hands-on activities, creating colorful galaxy jars and fun puff art projects. With simple materials and plenty of creativity, they transformed ordinary items into unique works of art.

More than just an afternoon of fun, Imagination Station encourages confidence, curiosity, problem-solving, and self-expression while giving children the opportunity to think outside the box and bring their ideas to life.

The event was filled with laughter, creativity, pizza, and time spent with community friends. We loved seeing the excitement on each child's face as they proudly shared their creations and let their imaginations shine.

At JCHA, we are committed to providing opportunities that inspire learning, creativity, and community connections for our residents.

North Side Elementary School visit.

A huge thank you to North Side Elementary School for taking the time to visit the children at Dunbar and Carver during summer break. The students were thrilled to see Principal Chad Moore and their teachers, who stopped by to share popsicles, books, and plenty of smiles.
The books will help encourage reading throughout the summer, and the special visit reminded our children that their school community continues to support and care about them even when classes are not in session. Seeing the excitement on their faces was truly heartwarming.
Thank you, Principal Moore and the North Side Elementary staff, for your kindness, dedication, and commitment to helping our children have a fun and successful summer. Your visit made a lasting impression and brought a lot of joy to our residents!

E. Myrtle Phase II is taking shape!

Construction is progressing steadily on the 10-unit affordable housing development designed to serve low-income families in our community. The buildings are now under roof, with roofing work underway. Interior construction continues as crews install plumbing, electrical systems, and HVAC ductwork throughout the apartments.
We are also excited for the arrival of the brick materials, which will allow work to begin on the exterior walls and further bring the vision of this development to life.

This project is made possible through our valued partnership with the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) and FAHE, whose support helps expand affordable housing opportunities within our community.

At Johnson City Housing Authority, we remain committed to increasing the availability of affordable housing and investing in developments that provide safe, quality homes for individuals and families. 🎉 Congratulations to Victoria on her graduation from the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Achieve Program! 🎉

Through hard work, determination, and goal-setting, Victoria successfully completed the program and achieved important personal milestones. Upon graduation, she was able to use her earned escrow funds to help make repairs and improvements to her new home. 🏡✨

We are proud of Victoria's accomplishments and excited to celebrate her success!

Interested in achieving your own goals?

FSS Achieve is a voluntary program for JCHA residents designed to help participants set and achieve personal goals that promote economic security and personal growth for individuals and families.

One of the benefits of the program is a financial incentive. When enrolled, any rent increases resulting from an increase in earned income are deposited into an escrow (managed savings) account. Once you successfully complete the program, those funds are paid directly to you.

A big thank you to Anna and Jenny, Health Educators from the Washington County Health Department, for hosting a fun and informative event for the children at JCHA! 🎉

Through interactive lessons, activities, and engaging games, the kids learned about personal safety, being aware of their surroundings, making good choices, and other important life skills. It was a great opportunity for learning while having fun, and the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

We appreciate Anna and Jenny for sharing their knowledge and helping empower our youth with skills that will benefit them every day! 💙
