Stop by the Washington County Disaster Preparedness Fair on September 10th from 5:30–8:00 p.m. at the Freedom Hall Auxiliary Gym.

This free event features:

🎒 FREE Prep Items — NOAA Weather Radios and Flood Preparedness Backpacks (while supplies last)

🚒 Explore Emergency Vehicles — Meet local first responders and disaster response agencies

🧒 Kids’ Corner — Fun and informative activities for children

💚 Informed Support — Licensed mental health professionals will be available to offer support and someone to talk to

Yesterday, we welcomed over 100 community members to our 2026 Campaign Kickoff! 🎉

A highlight of our annual kickoff is the hands-on community volunteer project. This year, volunteers joined together to assemble impact kits directly supporting our four core pillars. Literacy kits that foster ongoing youth education, birthday kits that enable families to celebrate together, hygiene kits that cover essential health needs, and flood recovery kits that build community resilience.

Every year, you hear us talk about our annual Campaign Kickoff, but what does that actually mean? For United Way, "Campaign" represents our collective goal to raise funds for the local programs and nonprofit partners strengthening our community's core impact pillars. "Kickoff" is the moment we celebrate our past wins and rally together for the road ahead.

Next week, our Kickoff features a hands-on Community Volunteer Project where we'll build Impact Kits for our neighbors including: literacy kits for youth education, birthday kits for family celebrations, hygiene kits for health essentials, and flood recovery kits to build community resilience.

Dolly Parton was an artist, musician, performer, businesswoman, and most of all truly represented the best in everything she accomplished throughout her life.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Dolly contributed a $2 million combined gift from herself, her foundation, and her variety of businesses. This contribution provided direct financial assistance to those facing the devastating effects of the natural disaster and the recovery that came after. Our mountain communities were hurting, and Dolly stepped up ready and willing to help. She made more than a contribution; she directly helped families and neighbors across the region while serving as a shining example of how we can lift one another up.

Her philanthropic endeavors have also created international and personal impact. A prime example is the Imagination Library. Since its founding, the program has mailed hundreds of millions of free, high-quality books to children worldwide, fostering a lifelong love of reading and empowering the next generation.

🦋 Dolly's heart for East Tennessee and her unwavering generosity leave a legacy that will inspire our region and world for generations to come. Thank you, Dolly, for loving your neighbors so deeply and remembering your roots.

As college campuses gear up for move-in day, the faculty at Milligan University took time to connect with us! We discussed the most pressing needs in our community and how to get incoming freshmen plugged into local nonprofit partners. As Milligan educates the next generation of servant leaders, we hope the seeds planted in year one grow into a lifelong passion for service.
