It has come to our attention that an insurance agent is spoofing TN SHIP’s phone number and falsely claiming to be a SHIP representative. They are calling people and trying to schedule home visits to “review your insurance.”

Important Reminder:

* TN SHIP is not currently conducting home visits.
* This is Medicare Advantage Annual Enrollment, and scams are common during this time of year.
* TN SHIP will never pressure you into making a decision.
* TN SHIP is not currently conducting in-home visits.

Tips to Stay Safe:

* Be cautious of unsolicited calls or visits.
* Never share your Medicare number or personal information with someone you don’t trust.
* Remember, SHIP provides free, unbiased, and confidential assistance. We don’t sell insurance.

Protect yourself and your loved ones from fraud. If you have any questions or concerns, call Tennessee SMP.

Today is Social Worker Day! March is Social Worker Month. This years theme is, "Social Work Breaks Barriers". We accomplish that quite well.

The First Tennessee Area Agency on Aging & Disability has been awarded $100,000 for a nationwide aging/disability COVID and influenza vaccine support grant.

The FTAAAD will be partnering with East Tennessee State University's COVID Vaccine Initiative Grant. The primary responsibility of FTAAAD in this grant is to conduct media promotion, phone and in-person outreach and overall education to older adults and adults with disabilities on the importance of these vaccines, and to provide resources to help individuals with questions about the diseases and vaccines, in locating a convenient vaccination site, and securing transportation to the vaccination site, if necessary.

As a benefit to ETSU's grant project, this media promotion would also increase awareness of the ETSU vaccination clinics among all audiences across the eight counties of Northeast Tennessee.
